xbox live NAT settings

need some xbox live help,

my nat type is set to moderate, ive looked on the internet for advise and it says i should open the ports on my router........

tried to do this but i failed my router didnt list the xbox....

am i being a NOOB? can any one give me simple advice?

if you search the internet there are lists of the ports that need to be open for certain games. You then need to play with your router settings to open these ports. There are usually online instructions for nat settings.
It certainly was not an easy task to sort my system out!

to be completely honest your probably better on Moderate because iirc you will probably end up with alot less "laggier" games..

Oh and if your talking about CoD then I don't think it's to do with the ports as two xbox's on the same network had both and open NAT and a moderate...

You need to either use Port Forwarding, or place your Xbox in your DMZ. Both mean that your Xbox will no longer be protected behind your router's firewall.

Google: 'Port Forwarding for Xbox' You should get some decent hits.

mine has been moderate ever since i started online gaming on my xbox/ps3 and never noticed anything to make me change it

Ive always found the easiest thing to do is just reboot your routter. It's aways sorted it for me especially on games like Forza 3 that hate anything other than an open NAT.

Select your router and then select Xbox live 360 or your preferred game. Follow instructions and you're good to go.
