Just got my renewal through,

was paying 1176.11 (98 quid a month) on a VTR Aged 18 with 1 year no claims.

now aged 19 with 2 years no claims, and it's 1094.73 (91 quid a month).

I asked if i could protect my NCB, they reply-ed only after 4 years NCB.

So looks like im stuck for another 2 years, as i don't want to lose them 2 years NCB.

Anyone else thinks that's unfair?

Seen as i was paying 2100 on a '1.4 SRI nova'

got 1 yr NCB, changed to the saxo (1600cc) and it went down to 1176.11.

And i only get -7 quid with 2 years ncb? :boxing:

Chances of getting a quote under 1k with no claims?

you think i could get any cheaper than 1k tho?

19 on a VTR.

If i change insurance, i'll lose my 2 yrs NCB.

you wont lose your no claims if you change insurer at your renewal.

I think with 2 years NCB you should be able to get a fairly decent quote on a VTR...depends a lot on where you live, security on vehicle....accidents (which you obv havent had), convictions etc...

Basically, look at getting another quote from the same day your insurance is due to run out with your current company. You will hopefully have a full 2 years then and you cant lose that by switching insurer, only way to lose it is via accidents which are at fault.

Id take a look around mate personally, try all the affiliate insurers on here, if not online at compare sites etc....

If you need any help or advice, pm me bud :) :y:

My insurers said i can only protect my NCB until after 4 years.

So i only have 2 years NCB with them.

If i change insurers then i wont have the NCB.

This correct?

Cheers.

I dont quite understand where your going with this? renewal prices are always stupid. If its renewal time you will have your 2 years no claims, so it doesnt matter if you leave them. Go on go compare or something and get a new quote, im 18, 1 years NCB and im paying £900 for my vtr.

Don't NCB's have to be protected to use them with other companys?

Or is it simply have insurance for 2 years without crashing n walla 2 yrs ncb?

If so, how am i meant to get it in writing? to prove to the next insurers i have 2 yrs ncb?

Nope doesnt have to be protected, basically phone your insurance company up and tell them to send proof of your no claims and they will. Get on a insurance comparrison website buddy and save yourself some money.

Cheers for the advice, but ive done my fair share of dodgy insurance.

So keeping it legit from now on.

i know compare sites put a % on. But 600 quid is ott lol?

i'll try ringing them for a new quote on the day, See if it's any cheaper.

Also with quinn i'm insured on any other car with consent.

Which is handy seeing as i own a saxo that breaks down most days.

NCB Protection...

You need 4+ years of NCB to protect them, protecting them doesnt mean if you switch insurers you will still have you NCB, because if you have earned NCB, you will have it regardless, unless your in a fault accident.

NCB protection is on policies so that if someone crashes and its a fault accident, your NCB doesnt get knocked back a stage, generally to 3 years if you have 5+ years NCB and back to 2 years if you have 4.

If your NCB is protected, you are normally allowed 2 fault claims in the insurers elected time period (normally 3-5 years) until your NCB will be affected. If you was to have a 3rd claim within that time, then your NCB will get knocked back (unless your with a company called NIG, who I believe offer Guaranteed NCB).

Hope that makes the Protection thing a little clearer mate.

Why isnt that legit? I was saying to put them on there as named drivers, not put you as a named driver, for some reason adding older people brought mine down.

 I think it's just one of those things man - insurance is going up and so the premiums aren't following the pattern they you should expect. It sucks but keep hunting.
