We are not talking about Liverpool!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The ref all game was on Barca's side, offsides, freekicks
You name it, that potugeusecuntarama referee did not give anything to chelsea
Yates
23rd February 2006, 02:57
he has got to be the worst ref ever
yeah i agree it should of been a yellow card, did puyol not do exactly the same challenge to crespo and get a yellow? too much play acting and it ruined what was an excellent match, imagine if it has been 11 v 11
makes the 2nd match all the better tho
drogba thinks hes better than eto - i think not
just exactly do you stop messi ronaldinho and eto?!

I think Del Horno should have got a yellow card but his first "challenge" on Messi when he followed through with high studs and he should have received a 2nd yellow card for the incident that led to his sending off. Messi should have been booked for play acting.
There is too much cheating in football, particularly at the top level. Reyes should have been booked for rolling back onto the pitch when he was down so that the game had to be stopped for him to be treated.Robben should have been booked when he acted to contribute to Reyna being sent off v Liverpool.
The refs need to consistently book players that over-act AND book players that ask for an opponent to be booked after a foul.
If only top footballers had the same spirit as rugby players football would be a better sport to watch.
Although I wanted Chelsea to loose being a QPR fan, I was sorry that John Terry scored the OG, I thought he was an inspirational captain last night against a team that outplayed his team from start to finish.

Sorry i will back down to the little boy who USED to play football
My bad
Yates
23rd February 2006, 22:24
EVERYONE WHO SAYS DEL HORNO SHOULD OF BEEN SENT OF MUST ALSO AGREE THAT PUYOL SHOULD ALSO OF BEEN SENT OFF FOR HIS IDENTICAL CHALLENGE ON CRESPO IN THE CENTRE CIRCLE
and yes i know caps was on
anyone who knows anything about football will agree that it was never ever a red card, as everyone could see in the replays del horno goes in for the ball and messi flicks the ball del horno cant stop and messi just turns his back and runs into him, when hes on the floor he looks over at the ref and then decides to roll over around 5 times for nothing, he wasnt injured if he was actually injured from that he would should of been subbed. if anyone should of been sent off then it should be messi for that awful and unsportsman like display.

Lol, this thread. I've only skim read it, im a newcastle fan so im not gonna be biassed here...
I think the red was harsh and unbalanced, but thats the way football goes. Chelsea have had thier fair share of good luck with these things though. They played amazingly, with 10 men against a side of that calibre. But i have to say, i think this tie is dead and burried now due to the 2 AWAY goals.
Better luck next year chelsea, i'll always support an english club in europe, but you were unlucky, just as barca were last season.

also well done to arsenal the first french side to win in madrid
Steve.
23rd February 2006, 22:45
its what the game is all about, im a chelsea supporter, but missed the match smileys/smiley19.gif but wathced the extended highlights and ur right it shouldnt of been a straight red, but he did have a slightly reckless challenge earlier on in the match and the ref didnt produce anything.
So perhaps he was maikng up for it? either way cant change it now, esult is final.
I agree tht what goes around comes around and robben does dive at a slight gust of wind. so its all fair at the end of the day because the managing directors of football will not crack down on being a girl!
