I've practically destroyed one of them, and the other pad is a bit rough round the edges.

It got destroyed by the locks and edge of panels (ie, bonnet where its sharp)

dose anyone know what i should be typing into google to get some more pads, you know the ones where it comes on a thread so you just screw it in? iirc, the thread is a Male M14.

Thanks

what polisher do you have? Do the pads not attach to a backing plate then to the machine?

well buy a velcro backing plate and then pads. its how most machines are now.

also try and get one where the velcro covers the whole of the back of the pad. i picked up some replacements for the UDM and the velcro was ever so slightly smaller than the pad and basically the pad shredded itself just leaving the middle bit

Them kind of pads IMO are crap....as said get a good, more flexible backinf plate like what Detaillers use, along with some better pads you will get much better results.

The kind of pads you are using are what bodyshops use and quite honestly there polishing techniques suck! After my respray it come back covered in buffer trails etc etc because they do not use the correct techniques.

I would have thought so too saying as the pads would have had no support and would have been rather flimsy :geek:

I used some of the silverline pads just for a test , and was quite suprised . Obviously not brilliant but used properly they can acheive reasonable results . And considering they are like 3 quid each , quite a cheap way to start .

Especially if you practice on a scrap panel . Saves wasting a 10-20 polishing/cutting pad .
