One of my mates just told me, that on newish cars.. When the airbag is deployed.. The speedos are frozen, so police/insurance know what speed they was going on impact.

And surely he must of hit where the barrier began? Otherwise, theres a few million quid claim there. As there meant to bend and absorb the impact?

Looks like he was going alot faster than 60 or 70 for it to rip through all that. If I was a betting man which I am, I would say he was going 120 atleast. For that amount of damage in my eyes anyway!

Yeah but he was probably going much faster, realised he was going to crash and slammed the brakes on, so was probably about 60/70 at the time the speedos froze but I'd imagine he was going much faster initially.

Depends, saxos are front engined.. So the engine would take alot of the force.. and maybe divert the railing away from the cabin.
