The inside of my headlight lens are quite grubby and i was wondering wether anyone has attempted to clean the inside of theirs before? And what would be the best method?

I was thinking of either taking out the whole unit and blasting water into it through the bulb holes or breaking the seal.

But if i break the seal how hard would it be to re-seal again?

Thanks:y:

Just bang them in the oven to melt the seal on the Headlight, get some APC on them and then reseal by heating the glue again and replacing the casing. Might aswell smoke them whilst your at it!

If you blast water through the bulb holes, how do you plan to apply a cleaning agent and agitate the dirt, then dry the unit?

Thanks. May sound stupid but what is APC?

I hadnt thought of that yet lol, but there would be a way just not a very suitable one lol.

All Purpose Cleaner.

Lots of people here would say use megs APC at 22 quid a gallon but I use Tesco Daisy APC for 98p, dilute it 6:1 and it cleans everything i need cleaned in the car!

It would be easier to just seperate the lense from the unit, clean it and then smoke or re-seal it and re-fit.

Remember it is easier to take the front bumper off when removing the unit though!

to clean the glass inside the lights use TOOTHPASTE!

belive it or not its what we use on hte skyline lights.

you apply and wash it off in an up and down motion (no circles) as it will leave swirls.

there is something in toothpaste that really cleans. its also a good thing for spots to lol.

or you can use some vinegar in the headlight, let it sit for 5 minutes then use some dried rice or beans in with the vinegar and swirl it round, obviously it may take some time to get the rice out but it will work, dry it out on the radiator then refit

A few coats of AG SRP does the trick ;)

Off topic but toothpaste is good for white trainers too :P

Because it's slighty abrassive & grainy, nothing more than this. Dilute a tiny bit polish with water will produce the same effect tbh. You'd look less like a nutter too when removing your toothbrush from your mouth and instantly cleaning your lights with it! Lolz
