Is it worth buying the £70ish HID kits from eBay? Or is there a specialist i can get a kit from so i won't be mugged off with 'universal fitment' crap?

cheers all

There pretty much all universal fit crap. The thing about the kits is in most of the world there illegal to use on the road and the offroad market is very limited. In so there are only very few reputable manufactures who would bother. I think Piaa are one of the very few who offer them. Philips did offer then for a short time however after a court hearing many years ago (I forget the exact year) they no longer make them. Virtually all the Philips branded ones you see these days are fake as they have not sold them new for years and only ever made a relatively small number to start with. Bosch never made them so again all the kits you see with there name are fakes. Same with most of the other apparently branded ones they are generally fakes. This is probably why when you look on here you see so many failures of these kits. A good hid bulb can potentially out last the car there fitted to. But you pay something like twice as much for a single quality bulb than you do for most of these full conversion kits that include 2 or 4 bulbs, ballast and wiring harness.
