Speed Awareness Course

Has anyone been on 1 of these? A friend of mine got caught speeding & got offered the course instead of the penalty.

LoL wasn't loads over the limit which is why i am guessing got offered the course, just wanted to know exactly what you have to do on the course as my friend has to go on it in a few days lol

They have a set band and if your lucky enough to fall in it - you will be offered it - my mate had to do it - he recons its just a slideshow or a video if I remember right but he recons he slept through it as it was mega boring lmao

I went on one when I was 16, Got caught on my motorbike doing 37 in a 30 zone...

Caught me in a right dodgey place.. :P Anyway....

Paid £60 to go on the course instead of having £60 fine and 3 points!

You just sit there and watch a few videos and thats about it... about 40 of us all together...

better than 3 points :D

Did one 4 and a bit years back. Watched a video, was told that speed kills and that was about it. The chap teaching it told me that Going above 70mph on the motorway was dangerous because the crash barriers are only rated for a 70mph impact.

I was called "argumentative" for asking how that could possibley be when the barrier will be rated to a force of impact which is of course speed multiplied by mass and thus the barrier should be fine to absorb a 1 ton car at 1500mph if they are capable of holding a 30 ton lorry at 50mph. I did concede that thermodynamics and the size of the object hitting and thus the spread of the force would be an issue but surely my reasoning would be sound that a car should be well into 3 figures before it started to push the boundries of crash barrier technology.

Basicaly, it's a lot of crap and has no real benifit, or didn't 4 years ago
