Dunno, loads of poeple tell insurance but not DVLA, i know a few of the more hardcore saxos that had everything delcared but still a VTR on V5

Youd have to do that anyway wouldnt ya as the ANPR's bring it up, so not exactly somthing you can just forget about like any other undeclared mods. And it can effect ya insurance, black car less noticable, bright red, very obvious and less chance of you not noticing it and driving into it etccc

exactly so thats proving my point of if your goin to do it make sure its lagit and 100% pukka. if not then the owner is been a stupid fool and neglagent (spl?). what if the owner then sells the car on and the new owner without knowing all its information had been legally updated goes and crashes?

Greensaxo has a flatarch 16v with big brakes being the only real give away as to the power.

It is on its standard wheels at the moment so looks like a normal Sierra XR4x4

The spec at the mo is

2.9 low comp
twin garrett hybrid T2 turbo's
fully worked ovwer heads with sodium filled oversized valves
Uprated pistons
Minker ECU, and injectors
Home made engine loom
running 1 bar boost


At the moment, with a 2.5 inch exhaust,conservative timing and a small intercooler:

286 bhp

275 lb ft torque @ 3000 rpm

Best official 0-60 time is 4.7 secs


Soon will have a 3 inch exhaust, bigger intercooler, better timing and should be around 310 bhp and 330 lb ft torque.

Then roll on thje hybrid T25s and higher boost

My nova used to be quite a sleeper. But it's been done to death now. People usually expect a XE under the hood, So when they see a boosted chrome 8v.. It's still a surprise.

Just can't beat people laughing at you, Because your in a 'shitty' car. Obviously you get the last laugh though :)

Even 1 guy in a 3litre V6 cougar, Stopped in the middle of the road And asked; 'WTF is in that thing?' Priceless.

Im in the middle of putting a 1.6 cvh engine into my 1.1 fiesta? thats all tatty different colour door ect....its a 1.6 out of an xr2 which is has a kent cam,powerflow head,k&N,ashley 4 branch,fullmagnex stainless exhaust. im hopeing that will be a sleeper as i am trying to find some 1.1 badges ect...waiting for my rad to come then she'l be on the road ready for track @FCS!!! lol

+1 i saw that at york raceway during a mini vs beetle event was immense, it came 2nd was beet in the final against a R34 V-spec skyline but only cause the driver short shifted on a couple changes :(

this van is owned by the same person as the MK3 escort that did the 0-60 at trax best its done is 2.83secs ;)

tbh mate any engine can go into any car its just a case of been an amazing fabricator.

the car company near me Zcars have managed to put a RB26DETT skyline engine into a TVR tuscan th car is pushing 800BHP.

They also put a Tyre R engine into a Cateram,Saxo,Mini's

Your average person doesn't know difference between VTR and VTS so if you got a 16v engine in your VTR it doesn't count as a sleeper. IMO of course.

VTR/Furio/Westcoast with valver = not a sleeper

Ax/1.1 with valver (as long as its still on its sitty wheels and no obv body mods) = Sleeper

Any old ford as long as its a bottom range one, with huge specs (cossie) = Sleeper

A car is a sleeper when it does something that someone doesn't expect it to do. I think enough people know the differences between the R and the S for it to be classed as a sleeper

See, that's how I think of a 'sleeper', and why I like to think of mine as one. To anyone who doesn't know the car, i'd be fairly sure it just looks like a modified 1.1, yeah, stuff that looks completely standard is a better 'sleeper', but mine still looks like something it's not, there's nothing that particularly makes it stand out as anything more than a 1.1.
