Just a quick question (no need to flame or abuse me :P )
I know theres people on here who have illegal number plates, either spacing, F badge, or something similar...
If you have them, how often do you get pulled and fined?
that is all, thanks

two friend of mine both have stupid French plates
one drives like an idiot, the other is very sensible
the idiot gets pulled a lot, they use the plates as an excuse
as long as they are ok to read you shouldnt have too many issues
Please do not put stupid comments at the bottom of your post....it will just cause more problems.

I haven't been pulled with my plates yet but all the lettering is to legal requirements - the only thing with my plates is I have a personal message on the botton of the plates, a red border and citroen sport badge :y:
KingVTS - its when you put that comment on the bottom that provokes people - just don't keep mentioning it and it may blow over :clapping:

if you attract attention to yourself, officers will pick at things, if you drive sensible and not like a twat im sure you shouldnt have too much bother.

i had a number plate the size of a mars bar, and it was velcrowed on to my number plate bracket lol

The plate on the bike is 100% illegal - the lettering and spacing appears to not be within legislation :y:
Well if ya don't generally drive like a plonker and make sure that all your lights/indicators/etc. work then they should never have a reason to pull you unless your exhaust is stupidly loud but dropping it in 4th or 5th in a 30 will quiet that down if that was the case :y:

Not alway's the case. I was followed by an undercover copper once. I had illegal plate's but they were VERY easy to read, ex-workmate who had bad eye sight said it was easier for him to read than a standard plate. I drove completely sensible but didn't drive suspiciously innocent looking either.
Still got pulled. He was alright about it but still, he pulled me. If you've got illegal plate's, they will pull you eventually, only a matter of time.

Bikes have to have 9X4 inch plates to be legal iirc
So I would imagine yours in illegal as it's far too small :geek:

i want that bikes sized plate on the front of my VTR...but think it may cause issues with the local police....

if you know its illegal then why put it on there, does it really make the car look that much better having letters slightly smaller, and then the worry and risk of maybe being pulled over everytime you see a police car and getting hit with a fine for it?

I had no numberplate on the front of my Saxo for over 6 months without being stopped. My friend has a plate the same size as that bike on the front of his 'teg too, never been pulled either, had that on for a year and half. Just depends where you live.

So whats the rules with number plates. Can you have a side picture on it of what you want. I heard you have to have where it comes from on the bottom of it. I know about the size and everything. Wanted to get one of the bay but not sure what to look out for.

Has to be standard font, correct spacing, only allowed GB or EU flags. Maybe England? No text on the bottom except the dealer I think, and the dealers postcode in the bottom right.

So you can't have a picture of a cartoon or anything on the left it has to be a flag ?

I wouldnt bother getting any illegal plates if you were intending to. French ones etc
Your gonna pay to get some plates that will get you fined £60 not only are they fining you becouse theyre illegal, but also becouse they look cheap n tacky. Any Fonts etc look rediculously tacky aswell.

Cartoon picture? Lolz. That will look shocking.
Smooth plates, no logo, no border, no text will alwayss look best.

Had this one on my saxo for 8 months. Illegal font, illegal 3D, Illegal Picture on the side and an illegal message on the bottom..
was pulled one night as i was going a bit fast up the main road, nice copper advised me to change them as i might get another officer that was not as nice as him, so i went back to normal plates, and tbh, it looked better lol...

back to normal..
http://i43.tinypic.com/fmndlc.jpg
I now have a personalised plate which is illgeally spaced like so...
http://i48.tinypic.com/15dt9x4.jpg
however, there are hundreds of cars with illegally spaced plates and i think aslong as you drive sensible and dont act a twat, they'll let you off. im always driving through town which is full of cops and none of them batter an eyelid to it..

Also it's illegal to have square plates on a non JDM/USDM car, this is also very easy to check for all the Honda fans with UKDM cars with square plates as the VIN numers on JDM cars are shorter.
I got stopped for having square plates on my civic and had to spend 20 mins explaining to the copper it was legal as the car was an import.

Comicaly illegal.
I don't see the point. Mis spaced or 3D/italic etc plates are just an excuse to get pulled over as well as looking tacky
