its been on my mind for a while now!
everyday i log on and i see dozens of threads of you guys/girls buying new bits and bobs for your saxos etc.

i get the idea that some of you are loaded!!:panic:

unless a lot of you save save save or have a cheap mortgage, i really dont know!!

the stories variey from "last week the car went to the body shop"
to i drove 3 hours to pick up my new motor"

and my fav one...

"got my vts engine fitted at the weekend".

maybe its just the u.k is a lot cheaper than ireland,or even the services are available at cheaper prices!
has me baffled.

so what weekly/monthly figures are ppl raking in.????

ps.
im nearly always broke.
dont smoke and rarely drink.
all wages on bills really:n:

discuss.

unsure if you will find many people actually prepared to state what they earn.
i am comfortable with my earnings, but i work hard to achieve it.

to put it one way, my misses is a care assistant at a residential home, fully qualified within the distribution of medicine, to cater for those with dementure and alhzeimers and competent with sign language for those that are deaf, shes put in several years at her home and is doing well - but what she earns in a month i normally take home in a week.
i fall heavily into the higher tax bracket :(

it means that as a couple we have a nice family home, some nice toys and pleasures and are comfortable within our way of life.

as Bick has stated disposable income and wages are two different things.

i have hardly any disposable income these days, since moving out of me parents to live with me finacee and were also saving/getting out of debt.
when i lived with me parents i had roughly 500-600 quid disbosable, but i was silly and got meself in debt.
once were out of debt wel have roughly 600 disbosable and a whole load of +savings etc etc.

i won't state how much i earn as A)you get the pricks saying you dont earn that much and B)its really irelevant,as your asking about disbosable income.

I am living comfortable at the moment.
Have our own place and 2 cars.
I don't smoke or drink so have plenty of moneys left over to buy fast cars and fiddle with them lol.

My missus earns a good amount and same with myself which obviously is the contributing factor.

I fund my buying by working bloody hard for my money, working two jobs, end up doing 7 days a weeks, before xmas i had not had a day off for 3 months :n:

But it means i now have a good pile of saxo parts building up in my room and a VTS on the way :y:

Also don't smoke and very rarely drink ;)

Sammie, that was me that put up the picture of my car within your thread when having a little natter with you about building a rally car and spec's to aim for, and yes it was huge.
The car I put up that day is the one in my signature and it is my own vehicle.

You must have me muddled up with another person somehow as it's certainly not me that goes about damaging others cars, and my other half is called Kim, unless she's been lying to me about her name for several years :(

The thing is, I spend so little time in London and outside, about 20 mins in the morning. The rest of the time I'm in my office which is actually quite spacey. It's nothing like trying to go shopping on Oxford Street, which I agree, is shit. Pay in London is a lot better than out, though I do get stiffed for a nice round £300 a month just to get here.

Amazingly, due to the Credit Crunch, it's actually a damn site cheaper to go outr for a posh meal here than it is anywhere else in the country at the moment. £20 a head inc drinks can get you into some amazing places. The Grand at St Pancres is an awesome place to stop for dinner on the way home. Train too, so a couple of glasses is not an issue

Yes. It's up at £300 now. I'd probably choose to live in London but Helen's a music teacher so we're in Bedford for a couple more years at least + I don't want to realise the £20k loss on the house.

Being "loaded" in London is a bit different to, say Birmingham. In Birmingham, centrally, you'd get an absolutely stunning one bed flat for £120k. £465k is the cheapest here. If you live outside then it's a massive train fair like the one I have. £300 a month on transport before having a car. Hmmmm.

Whereas i need a car less than 3 years old for work, so thats £300 a month on finance, plus £100 or so for servicing/tax/insurance, then £275 or so a month on fuel (1.5-2k miles a month).

£675 a month to run a car. Shouldnt have added that up tbh

I absolutely love cars but i'm happy to drive shitters because i NEED somewhere of my own to live. Bedford to London takes over an hour but it's not that bad. Bedford to Enstone when I worked at Renault was 55 miles but an awesome drive. Cross country to Milton Keynes, through Milton Keynes down to Oxfordshire, cross country all the way. The last 9 miles were on some of the best roads I've ever seen and everyone on them was off to work for a motorsport team...

A few times I'd get into work having had a burn up with a 90bhp Megane Estate which had shown my camm'd VTS a clean pair of heals only to find out it was a young developement driver of some nature (2 of whom have full time seats in F1 next year)

i wish i qualified for a student loan. because my course is based at a college rather than uni i dont qualify for anything, not even a half fare bus pass.

i have had to pay for my course out of my own money and fund the lot myself aswell as not getting any student loans or anything.

really annoyed when i found out but there is nothing i can do so unfortunately ive got to get on with it and hope i get a source of income soon.

That could well be a long way off. I see it being a ballache getting onto the housing ladder for a good 18 months. Our motgage isn't a huge amount more than twice our annual joint income, with 10% as a deposite and our options for a remortgage are really very limitted. It was only 2 and a half years ago when we were buying that being offered 5x joint income was the norm. One place offered 8 times. Fuck that

10% is the minimum, 20% is much better and 40% will have you rocking some fairly awesome rates at the moment. In short, I need about £50k in readies and that's sort my mortgage right out. errr

Full time Uni student, but make a fair bit on the side as a mobile mechanic which is pulling me out of Spaxo related debts.

Anyone who says Uni life is easy is either jealous and too dim to get in themselves or naive. 12-16 hour sessions working on cars are more common than shorter stints for me. I spent 20 hours solid overnight in the Library the other week doing a 2500 word essay I wanted to make perfect, spent about 40 hours on it overall. I work fookin hard. Ive been out on the piss about 4 times in 6 months, before Uni I was out heavily drinking at least 3 times a week.

I do like being busy though :)

TBH, I'd want a house.

Flats have absolutely nose dived and I don't see them recovering for a long while. My house was £165k. It';s worth about £150-155 now. The new build flats which we looked at were £187k, now being knocked out for £129,995.
