it makes a loud whirling grinding noise in 1st , 2nd and 3rd almost like the sound u get from a wheel bearing that is kafufed but hardly noticable in 4th and 5th , but 1st is realy bad.
also i can here the release bearing in neutral with the clutch up i was jus woundering if it needed a clutch + bearing or new box , also when i ease of it kinda stops and starts making the noise like somthing is moving about if you understand what i meen by that.

Lmfao, silly question?

Of course you need a new gearbox and clutch.

Whirring is the syncros, i've destroyed 3 gearbox's now, i say you have <500 miles left before it sounds (well actually will be) like it's ripping your gearbox apart.

It's not nice honest. I was in 2nd when it went, press the accelerator.. and CRUNCHHH doesn't move anywhere, just the box eating itself.

Same happened in 3rd.

However put it in 4th, held it at 2k rpm.. couldn't put more gas on or off, otherwise it just shredded itself.

So when it goes, keep the same amount of throttle in a gear it doesn't rip up. And plod home (if your lucky like me and it goes 1 mile from home) :)

My Saxo has done 120k still on same clutch and everything else fine as well, gearbox, driveshafts etc. In fact the only thing ever to go wrong with the car thats the cars fault is a front wheel bearing,
