Megane exhaust quiry??

I have a 1997 1.6e RT megane and am thinkin of fitting a straight through end pipe to it. I have already replaced the center section with a straight through 2" pipe but now want to remove the end section including backbox and replace it with a 2.5" straight through pipe, what are peoples opinions on this? has anyone done it before?

no disrespect to -ALEX- but it isnt illegal or if it is no cops act on it as i know about 13 maybe more people with defenders, rangie's etc who all have straight through pipes on them, V8's and TDI, also when i last had my emissions tested with straight through center section, which removed the center silencer my emissions were still very low, so i am gna take my chances and see what other people think

dont think there are a massive amount of megane owners on here, it is illegal, and as i said it sounds like crap trust me i have one and have had it straight through! sounded like a feckin tractor

No disrespect taken at all but actually it will most likely be illegal under European Type Approval for vehicles. And new MOT regulations state an exhaust mustn't be too loud. Plus I feel if you were pulled into a VOSA inspection at the side of the road, you would be told to fix it immediately.

ok kool, but i gettin rid of the car in 6 months, 5 months before its next MOT as i am saving for a defender. i looked it up just now and it seems tht the exhaust itself, as it will still have CAT, is legal as the CAT does offer some supression to the noise and emissions, but it can be deemed to loud for road use and i can be told to fit original or at least some form of box to the system, but as i live 10 miles from the nearest real town and castle combe is 5 mins down the road it should be ok
