...but..
it wasnt me, or my saxo.
my dad just came back home from an accident (hes in the fire brigade). he told me there was a car broken down at the side of the A1 and waiting for the recovery/breakdown truck to come and just as the truck was arriving at the car a lorry jack-knifed and crashed into the car, squashing it into the banking at the side of the road killing 3 passengers in the car.
its scary to know driving in this weather has consequences like this.
my advice is dont get out your car but sit in the passenger side of the car
thought i would let you know incase you find yourself broken down, take care

Speaking of which, why is ashleyp's thread now in Members only, after I made one of the few sensible posts in there?
Some days I hate sax-p's over-moderation.
Back on topic, this is genuinely sad.

fucking lorries least of all should be on the roads, the loss of peoples lives is purely down to employers who are just too greedy to tell the employees to stay of the roads and not attempt to travel to work the goverment should have a scheme that pays towards lost earnings and help the smaller companys and employees when days off are a necessary no one should be travelling on these roads especially not to get to a poxy job or make a delivery dead line, to make someone else rich, at the end of the day its not worth your life.
I mean how often does weather like this come, not often at all but the greedy goverment and companys just think money money money they make me sick what should happen in this extreme weather is a broadcast on all local news channels in effected areas telling people to keep off the roads and stay home their should be payment schemes for people who cant afford to loose wages and employers should encourage people to stay home
As for lorries bring back the rail networks these damme lorrie drivers kill far too many people because they are not paying attention or fall to sleep or just trying to be somewhere in exetreme weather.

while i guess it was unfortunate for these people that a lorry hit them i cant help but think its partly their fault for staying in the car in the first place. its common sense to not stay in the car and ive heard it mentioned on news etc so not really any excuse for them, i keep spare cloths, sleeping bag, torch and coat in my boot most of the time not just winter since never know when might break down and where, it doesnt take alot of space or weight to carry this stuff either but i guess some people never learn until they are in the situation

RIP to the occupants, as said, surely they should've been up the banking, although in this weather it's understandable that they weren't, I guess.

Is this for real?
If the lorries were off the roads, then how would shops get stock? How would petrol stations get fuel? How would other places continue to run?
It's a bit of snow, why should the country come to a standstill because of it?
Lorries are limited to 56mph, so even on motorways, they're going slower than cars.
And they kill to many people because they fall to sleep/because of fault of their own? I've seen some of the shit that car drivers do, and heard many stories from family members who drive lorries day in day out, and it's quite often the car's fault, thinking the lorry can stop in similar space etc. Obviously not the case in this situation, but, there must've been something wrong somewhere for the 1 lorry to jack knife, considering how many others must have gone across the same patch of road with no problems, yeah maybe driver error was to blame, but that doesn't mean they're all the same.:n:
