block heater

Hi,
I found that my engine block heater is not working at all, its pretty difficult to start the engine at -18degree Celsius, Can i change the block heater myself ? in one hour ? or is it a complicated task to do ?. is thre any video or help available , itried to get haynes manual no luck yet :(

its the eölectrical engine heater , used to preheat the engine in cold climate

Are we talking about a diesel saxo here? if so leave the engine for few seconds after the pre-heating system light goes off then start.
