ok for past few weeks my car has been making alot of noise in the engine bay. sounds like a turbo on constant dump SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH when i drive in 1st and 2nd its louder but any other gear its qwiet and u cant hear it,and if i push the clutch down half way u hear shick shick shick shick sound and different tones when pushed all the way in, Gear changing is still good clutch is only 3 months old, been to 3 garages and they say its my diff or gearbox garentee it. the other night there was a grinding sqweak noise like sqweak sqweak sqweak sqweak then it would stop and also the smell of burning wud appear in the engine bay.

Hmmm sounds like Thrust bearing in the gear box :/ but that normally makes a whine, not a clonk.

7th January 2010, 22:00
deffo not the thrust bearing mate that only makes a noise when it is ticking over and stops when you dip the clutch!!!

like said from what has been said it is that same as what i had and mine was the diff!!

and his clutch is brand new!!!

the moto you car hear just befor starting the car would be the fule pump it must still be working or the car would not start lol

the noise is the fuel pump priming, if you turn your car on after just turning off it may not do this as it already has petty..

Update...
Ok car was sent in this morning and had the worst drive of my life.
Had cars crashing a few feet in front of me everywhere and when i got to a juntion i cud smell somthing :S
i looked round the car and the entire car was filled of smoke of burning clutch :S
this i then felt the clutch and the bitting point was about half a nad lengh, also my clutch pedal was boounching up and down :S
but got to the garage and job done
got a phone call just now and the Clutch had been batterd so a new clutch was in order. also my gear was faulty so teh gear box will be getting replaced aswell :(

total price: £720.......

James106
13th January 2010, 16:19
Thats a bloody lot! the gear box has to come off anyway to get to the clutch! about 70 quis for the clutch, around 200 for the Box So i don't think it will cost 500 in labour!!!!

raunchz
13th January 2010, 16:27
Dont pay £720 for it!!

The labour to change the gearbox over should be ZERO, they are removing the gearbox to change the clutch anyway!

I can come to your house and easily do it for over half that!!!

James106
13th January 2010, 16:38
Seriously mate! shop around! that's if you havn't got it done yet!

Will cost no more than 200 for clutch fitter, so plus 150 for the box and an extra hour to fit the box, although it's got to be done anyway!, no more that 400 bud!

450 for a box !?

pm Sparco-Tom as he might be able to sort you out with a box for a lot cheaper than that !!

Make sure you put a vts box back on, not a vtr box!! You know what was wrong with the vts box ?

richy_t_123
13th January 2010, 20:31
i only paid £150 for a new box for my vtr and that was with 40.000 on it with proff.
got a brand new clutch kit for £50 off a mate who owns a parts shop at cost price
fitted it all my self so saved a bit of cash there.

deffo trying to rip you off mate tell them to fu** off
