Hi all

We're currently in the process of rebuilding our rally car for the 2010 season - and it's a Saxo! So I thought I'd sign up on here; no doubt I'm going to need various bits of technical advice/parts as we go on and I know Mike Cracknell who used to be on here. I'm from Yorkshire so caught up with him once at one of your Xscape meets a few years ago.

Teaser pic below of the car, also our website is www.teamwoodspeed.com if you want to check us out!

Look forward to getting out and about on the forums,

Cheers

Paul

Hi Paul, should be good to see this build!

Is it a new car to you? or is it one you've used previously?

Cheers guys, I've already been spending with Kam Racing too! We bought the car as a going concern, professionally built having done just two rallies. I'm very particular though so have spent the last couple of months stripping it down and getting it how I like it. Here are some details:

Saxo VTS 16V

Full seam welded, lightened and strengthened shell
Weld in S1600 cage with suspension pick ups
Quick lift jacking points welded into the sills

Cut away rear bumper valance
External ignition cut off and extinguisher activate
Peugeot Sport lamp pod with Hella spot and driving lamps
Bonnet pins

Suspension:
Proflex 3 way adjustable remote reservoir suspension
Heavy duty bottom arms/top mounts
Strengthened rear beam mounts

Engine:
Standard 16V 1600 VTS engine
Raceland SS manifold
Peugeot Sport exhaust
Group N induction system with cold air feed and green cotton filter

Transmission:
MA gearbox with gripper 90% plate limited slip differential and 5.1 straight cut final drive

Braided hoses

Cockpit:
All brake/fuel lines run through car
Sparco Pro2000 seats

Wheels/tyres:
Peugeot Sport 15" Compomotive MO wheels in white

Colway gravel tyres

The car has an MSA stage rally logbook and all FIA International homologation papers, and was professionally built. We bought it at the end of last year to replace our wide arched Ka rally car which we competed in during 2009. The car should be good fun on the stages and we're competing in the ANCC Championship, though we will only be running in four championship events due to work commitments.

I have a remote for the Brantz, it's fine - I used one like this as a Codriver on the Cambrian this year :)

I had the Laser 3 in my last rally car and to be honest it does far more than it needs to. Nice piece of kit though!

I'll get some better photos up when we roll it out next week.

Just wondering why you have stuck with the standard calipers atm?

Just wondering why you have stuck with the standard calipers atm?

Because at the moment the car is homologated which means it is Group N spec. I wont necessarily be keeping it that way, but from what I hear the standard brakes are more than up to the job - would you disagree?

VTRelite
11th January 2010, 23:12
For normal road use, the standard brakes are fine but any faster and they don't seem to have any real bite behind them, even with braided hoses. A lot of people on here seem to have used a 266mm or 283mm set up using calipers from cars like the Berlingo, 306 GTi-6, 206 GTi etc
