ask above suggests will these affect my paintwork? like many saxp'ers i have been under like 3+inches of snow and the whole end has ended, but i was wondering what this cold slushy stuff will do to my paint work?... also will de-icer be alright on waxed paint becuase if so i'll start my car up well before i set off lol not risking that!

Im not 100% but i think aerosol de-icer especially could strip wax.

As for the slush just being on the car i wouldnt worry too much if you have a good sealant / wax protecting the paint buddy

use a scraper rather than a spray. I dont think I have ever needed anything more.

de icer rots the rubber on wipers

scraper does a decent job, de icer doesnt help window rubbers and tbh boiling water is a big no, big change in temperature can crack the screen especially if theres a crack or stone chip in it

scraper wins hands down, or put it in a garage, or even put a windscreen cover on it

I scrape the majority off then use room temperature water, an old 4pint milk carton does the job :y:

I use my vikan multi purpose detailing brush as i haven't used it on my alloys yet so it's a spotless! Sweeps the snow off effortlessly, for the ice i have big windscreen cover and the rest of my windows don't freeze ;)

deicer can damage seals apparently, and never use boiling water itll crack the screen

Problem with pouring water over the car is that it can freeze on the windscreen/bodywork. Same for de-icer
