For years I have always fancied one, but they were always mega money!.

Am I crackers for maybe selling the 182 for one?

No, the handling is simply amazing.

And they look sublime.

Not if its what you really want...though i would definitely try and drive one before you buy, just encase you are disappointed with the way they drive, handle, feel etc.

Never been in a 172/182 so cant say.

I cant see the appeal of the FRP being honest dude. A more swank Fiesta?

Not a fan personally. They are supposed to handle amazingly but the engine just doesn't have enough poke to match...

Read the article Alex, surprising reading tbh:

Lap of Pembrey:

PH1 172 - 1:15:40
DC2 ITR - 1:15:48
FRP - 1:13:75

Slow in a straight line, but clearly, handling is epic :y:

Wow, thats an actual big difference.

The article isnt biased now is it?

In the same conditions and same driver etc etc?....that is such a big gap, could be lots of reasons why the gap was so big.

Would actually be a cheap car to run, though I'd imagine disks and pads cost a bit.

Will keep it's value well and has a firm following. I may check the prices out for myself actually.

Alex - I see what you mean about poke, need to drive one to know really.

Nope, clio wins the test overall due to Puma's initially ridiculous pricing ...

Same day, same driver, same track. The handling is just epic & allows far more speed to be carried through the corners.

There is a local one to me

Which is one of the rare ones with the LSD and the huge rear wing, honestly I have never heard a car sound so good on over run before!

Sorry to be a pedant but grip and handling are not the same thing. Shows it's got a lot of grip and excellent brakes, doesn't say much about the handling (which is great anyway)

I've read that article numerous times Dave! Think i may have had the original mag or it was out when i worked in a shop and read mags when bored lol Think i read every issue of autoexpress, autocar etc for a few years :D

It just doesn't do it for me as a whole proposition. Normal person asks what you drive, you say ford puma, they laugh. Same does however apply for all hatchbacks but none are quite as girly as a puma image wise.

Yeah the Pads and disc's aint cheap at all and the stupid 4 pots dont have dust seals either and they aint cheap to refurb either!

We both know this ;) i was toning it down for Sax-P readers after my last discussion on 'steering feel' and its difference to grip wasnt understood by anyone :zainy:

If you bought one, Id say give it 6 months and you would want another RB 182.

AlexR

BTW interesting to see a shitty Ph1 172 owning the teggy on track, for a much less focussed car without a diff that's great.

They are a girls car tbh, but I have never seen any woman drive the racing version! To hardcore for a trolly dolly lol

Whereas you say saxo/106 & they suddenly put their hands in their pockets so you cant steal their wallet ... id rather be a girl than a chav tbh lol

Dave thats harsh. I now want to sell, again :homme:

At least they don't walk around with their hand over their arsehole like they would if they knew you drive a Puma :D

In london it's easier to tell people i don't have a car but do have a license, then at least they can't take the piss out of the shitters :o

Heard nothing but great things about them Lee, if what they say is true than it could possibly be the sweetest handling FWD out there. And its prettier than a Clio too lol. Go get yourself a test drive.

Have you tried finding one lol

10 year old this year!

Most will have had paint! Those flared arches dont help!

My wife had a Ford Racing Puma and had to get rid as they just cost too much to maintain £900 for full exhaust system, discs and pads are same as the 911 so get your money out when they want replacing. didnt really have much poke but does have the looks. hers was No. 200 if u come across it . W118 SGW i believe the reg was.

do it, do it errr DO IT!!

Loved them ever since i first seen one, which isnt very often tbh, heard alot of good things, but also the bad side liek the cots of parts etc like mentioned above!

Nice rare car though, and with a little err wel maybe alot of money put into it, wouldbe a VERY fast rare car.... collectors car in years to come perhaps???

PH1s are underrated imo.
