Hi,
I know this isn't relevant to Saxo's but need to ask as im a tad confused.

I'm going for a interview for a welding company who make church windows/steel windows/Railing and gates.. etc as a trainee

Does anyone know if this is a 'decent' job to go in to ?
Never really thought of welding but i've got the interview within 2 hours of applying so all very short notice!

I'm currently working full time in a garden centre but will be going back to work with my dad if i decide not to do the welding job.

So does anyone do anything like this?
Is it worth learning? Whats it like money wise?(For a trainee right through to fully certified)

Cheers

church windows... thats where the money is at!...they cost an arm and leg to make! so i would imagine, the pay for them would be really good!

My housemate is a qualified welder & rope access technician... earns more in a week on the rigs than i do in a month - and im not on a particularly shoddy wage lol.

a lot worse jobs mate !
not really hard work but breathing in the shit a lot of the time, endless jobs you can do as a welder not the best paid unless your on rigs or coded for pipes etc but better than a lot more that need a lot more training if your able to get the hang of it

Exactly, oil rigs they earn mega bucks.

On the other hand, my company can approve your welding skills to BS and ASME codes and you can become coded if you want :y:
