I did fail. ;(
7 Minors 1 Major
Major - Over taking a guy on a bike on a narrow road with parked cars, yet the driving examiner deemed it safe to over take.
Got back to the driving centre, Sorry you have failed 1 major, being overtaking that cyclist.
My reply was: Are you a comedian?
he got out said sorry and walked off.
Pure fagggggbaggg.!!!

can you not appeal it?????
Dom
14th January 2010, 17:27
Appeal will only get a free re-test, not worth it after the shit you have to go through IMO, just book another one, hopefully next time you will pass :y:

Unlucky mate. When are you going to re-book it?
Smokin_Joe
14th January 2010, 18:10
You only get a free re-test if you can show the test was not carried out in accordance with the conditions laid down by parliament.
You cannot contest an examiners judgement.

I did that and failed a test. 'Following too close' apparently - bit hard to follow a fcking cyclist up a steep hill, with a row of cars up your arse, yet maintaining a good distance without overtaking.

damn! unlucky. I've heard things about the examiners only being allowed to pass a certain number of people, looks bad if they pass too many people i guess, plus they make more money that way. you could have been an unlucky one.....if its true?!
Just what i've heard

there was a bit od a bump at the bottom of a hill i was on and the front wheels rolled down the bump and pushed the rest of the car backwards up the hill. 'incorrect use of handbrake'

Nah it's not true.
There's some driving test forum where examiners post, and they've clarified it.
There's no denying they are biased towards age & gender though. Most girls and over 21s I know passed first time, yet 17-21 y/o lads rarely do.

I was an ADI for twenty years, and the examiners do have a quota system. It goes like this -
All those who cock something up, fail.
All those who don't, pass.
Believe me, if you ever sat in the back of the car during someone's driving test you would see they do not need to invent reasons to fail people. What would surprise you the most are the number of things they shut their eyes to.

i think the test should go more like this pull out of a drive way , get through town safely , go to supermarket park the car, over take a farmer , a bit of country road driving then pass

passed at 17, 11 minors I think it was. Started leaving the test centre without putting the car into gear without realising as it was on a slight downhill
Didnt get marked on use of gears though, twice for clutch because I stalled twice though :P

lol. i love the "its the examiners fault i failed" comments.
the driving test system is stupidly easy imo. should be much more "proper driving" experiences involved. reversing round a corner isnt the hardest task invented

I passed first time at 17 2months after my bday with 1minor.
The driving test is piss easy and the tasks they ask you to do any competent driver should be able to pass with ease.
Just think yourself lucky your not in that country where you have to learn for 2 years i think before you can take your test. (god why cant i remember the name of the country :( )

it's a scandanavian country iirc, takes 1 year to learn
they have less accidents / deaths
and much cheaper insurance
sounds horrible :P
