Does anyone know if theres any proof behind the theory of viagra helping with the effects of altitude sickness...?

Just read a snippet in the paper about 3 guys using it for their climb up Mt Kilimanjaro and was watching the Top Gear Xmas Special this morning (thursday) and they took it too...

I've climbed Kilimanjaro (its 2,000 feet higher than the top gear guys got to and we werent driving :boxing:) but we all just took Diamox. Mind you, sharing a tent with guys all having taken Viagra is a situation i'd rather not be in :homme:

opens up blood vessels allowing better blood flow meaning more air etc which is carried by the blood is transported through the body quicker i believe? so in theory cant see why it wouldn help...

They used it to save a babies life a while back too as it opens up the vessels (not a whole pill..)

apprently smokers are better at handling with the high altitude due to lack of oxygen or something

Yeh i helps blood travel around the body so the increase in oxygen flow helps with altitude sickness.

Viagra was originally designed for this purpose, the fact that it also increases the blood to you penis was a side effect. Viagra doesn't give you instant wood, you have to still be aroused to get a hard on from it. Something which may be embarrassing when your in a tent with a bunch of guys...

Haha, couple of my work mates tried this on another work mate, in the pub and he went to the toilet and left his drink obviously. Couple of Viagra tablets dropped into it but nothing happened because he wasn't aroused! They only found that out afterwards and were gutted!
