Theres a lad over the road whos got a OLD school mini
His had problems with it since day one. I've got the window open and can hear him revving the tits of the car (Bearing in mind its around 20 years old)
I can clearly hear its got a serious mis-fire and sounds as rough as arse holes. I would love to go over there to tell him, but his the cunt who drove into the back of me on his motorbike.
His there pouring red-x in the tank FFS
I'm going to wait for the conk out and lots of swearing.
But are the engines very robust on them before i get my hopes up?

Lol, i dont think there anymore bulletproof than anything else. My friends mini has had about 700 engine rebuilds. Depends on how hard a life its had i suppose, just cross your fingers. You could always get out the lawn chair, set it up across the road from him, get a six pack and just watch and admire the whole shindig, he'd hate that lol

Tell him to hold it on the redline for 5 minutes, it should sort it out ;)
If he is that thick and does, then video please :)

my mate has a proper old skool mini cooper

are you sure he's not just using the redex as lead replacement? Minis running on 4* leaded petrol and you can use redex in standard fuel to create that sort of mix or something

Wait till he's gone (but the car is still there) pop the bonnet (most proper mini's don't have locking bonnets) and swap the spark plug leads over!

They only cost £214 back in the day... And they wern't making any profit on them.

Dose our mate go to college in Kempston? if so there's a nutter of a mini driver that hammers it round the bends where i work.
Mini's dont actually have suspension, they just have big fat bits of rubber to absorb the shock lol

Are mini's that cool anymore? They were once but now every emo/goth/indie kid has one and there starting to loose appeal

seeing as its all cast iron, it does take some beating.
pish as fuck engine mind you. Anything that mounts the dissy cap facing forward in a low slung grille isnt the best.

nope he works for some company out towards the M1, in marston moretaine
so if you saw him, he'd be in the works van 90% of the time
also has a nova redtop in his garage.

i also agree
theyre a fashion accessory to them, rather than a car enthusiasts car

My mates mini with a K-series engine ran an 11.9@118.9mph 1/4 mile. Dunno if its cool though.

I haz a mini y0.
The engine still runs after being left unturned for 3 years!
Tbf they are pretty much bomb proof unless like a mate of mine hit first instead of 3rd while slowing down and the whole damn thing exploded!

I've had a few offers on mine - a 1977 1275 GT Clubman in white.
Paid £1200 for it about 7 years ago. Been sat in Tara's gran's garage rotting for 6 of those years and I've had offers over £2000 as it is!
I figure if I hold onto it for another few years I may be able to push the price right up. I've got every tax disc, MOT and receipt since 1981, and the car's only done 42000 miles. Seems quite rare to find a car so old with all the paperwork that is a genuine GT Clubman

Nope, engines are pretty solid, you could hold them on valve bounce for days on end, lol. Diff pins aint to clever though as I found out with mine.:panic:

Fuck Me you would be able to sell that for a bit if you got it in good nick they are quite rare now! but not as desirable as the round noses unfortunatly, but you can fit a civic type r engine up front with no body mods just subframe adjustments ;)
Also the A-series engine wasn't built by rover! it was an austin engine

Can't really afford to get it to a decent standard. Need all body pannels replacing, interior re-trimming, a load of holes welding up and a load of other bits lol
If I did do it up I'd stick with the original lump and but an overbore kit with maybe the mg metro tip end

Sounds like you're in the same position as me. I've got a single point cooper. Engines mint, built by slark race engineering, but it needs a re-shell now:n:
Such a fun car when it was mint though.
