Hellooooo,
just wondering where people buy there spanners and wrenches from lol. May seem a bit weird but i cant justify spending £100 on a set of spanners lol. Or is it just me?

Thanks

I tend to go for Britool or Snapon that i just get from the vans. Or for cheap tools the better quality Clarkes ones from Machinemart are not to bad really. The ratchets perhaps are not the best in the world but the basic spanners are ok.

Snap-on if you own a BMW dealership, britool if your in trade or halfords pro range if you want decent tools to work on your car at home.. Simples

Depends what kind of tools i'm getting.

If its spanners / ratchets and sockets then halfords.

If it's electrical or get used all the time then snapon. Like my impact gun

If it's hydraulic then i usually phone pma (my parts supplier) and get through them, usually draper or sealey.

all of my tools and tool box is supplied by Mac Tools.

also helps that a mate and his dad cover 2 back to back regions in the south east, so 90% of what i want i only pay what they can get it in for.

plus i have a couple of Mac stickers on the car with there name within, Mac Mugs in the work van and several of Mac Polo's for work.

Snap on is an absolute ripoff these days!

Cheap stuff rebranded and with the price over quadrupled. Seriously, if you know the trade well enough, virtually everything bar the main tools(spanners, sockets, ratchets & torque wrenches) is made by another big company that also sell tools, often the exact same models, much cheaper.

And before you get all high and mighty on me, i have my dads huge snap on tool chest and a load of his snap on tools. But when i buy my own, halfords pro on trade card, lifetime guarantee and they are quite nice to use! So far i've broken virtually all of the ratchet spanners(they are gear wrench, same as snap on pretty much) and had them replaced. Broken a load of torx and hex bits, all replaced, broken a few 1/2" extensions and they replaced them as well!

Have to agree with AlexR........personally i use alot of Halfords Pro Range Tools....any problems or anything breaks just take it back and they replace it free of charge.

Always helps when you have a trade card as well.........good discounts ftw

I have heard on the grape vine that a company called BluePoint (IIRC) use the same specification's as snap-on, but they are made in Canada instead of the US.

Mac is far superior to Snap on, and almost twice the size of the company over in the US.

Mac Tools, the tools by choice for Chip Foose :)
