Hi Everyone,
Just bought a 1999 saxo east coast. I have been in love with the car for quite some time, but just couldn't find one local at a good price.
So, was wondering what are some things i should be aware of so I don't get burnt when my MOT comes? Picking up my car tommorrow.

Cheers lewis! So, whats the must would you say is the first mod that should be done on a saxo considering that my wallet is empty after the purchase of the car?

Mod ideas
Free mods or almost free:
Tcut your badges
Tint your rear lights
Tint your side lights
Paint drums/calipers
Paint interior trim
Bee sting ariel
Smoke headlights
Cheapish things:
Mesh your grill
Spoiler
Air filter
Back box
Cheap alloys - its must really
Ive done all these things and im far from finished. The best part is you can do them over time :)

Same car as me :) What colour is yours? Get some pics up :)
New ice?
De-wiper (I wouldn't recommend but a lot of people do it)
I think lewis has said all the other cheap mods

Paid £575 for it. I couldn't resist.
Its green.
Would like to know some good places to get some 3spoke wheels.

Ebay? Advertise in the wanted section of saxp when you have 100 posts. Other than that just keep shopping about or try calling up salvage yards.

We shall see how good of a price it is come MOT....fingers crossed.
I have been thinking about what colour wheels. Any suggestions on wheel colour on a green saxo?
At the moment, there are some repairs I need to do too:
1. sort out the fuse box (I think all the fuses are messed up)
2. Sort out the AC settings not working (found a topic on here about how to fix)
3. Find a green door handle for passenger side
4. Sort out Alarm/immobilaser. It has come with one, but I think the wiring is wrong as it doesn't respond.
5. Fix mirror....joystick? It just doesn't work to move the driver side wing mirror
6. Figure out where all the rattling is coming from in the back (I think it might be a loose spare tyre)
7. Get a better stereo with AUX in and some new speakers (one of the back ones are bust)
8. Sort out a small leak in a back window.
9. Fix dashboard so it only lights up when the lights are one. At the moment they are on when the car is on. I think this is also why the dimmer for the dash doesn't work.
10. Fix dipping controls for headlights. They don't work at all.
11. Replace broken mirror in sun visor
12. FIRST MOD: Replace stupid giant clock instrument panel with one that has a tach on it. I have never known a car with a tach. So this is a must! I see you can get them for about £20 on ebay and i found a guide on here about how to do it. Just not much of a car guy....so im not so sure if ill be able to do it.
Once all that is done, I can then look at wheels and styling and performance. Any ideas of any of the above might fail an MOT?

I bought a '99 East Coast a couple of weeks ago, my first car :) I paid £800 for mine but it is flawless and has MOT till October. I'm gonna do a few of those cheap/free mods that lewis suggested.
I HATE THE CLOCK THERE. Why did they do that? I wasn't sure how easy/expensive it would be to put a rev counter there instead. Let me know how it goes if you end up doing it?

im starting to think that I don't want a VT style kit. Everyone's car looks like that. Perhaps something more original...or no kit.

when say say three spoke wheels, do u mean 3 spoke wheels or three stud wheels? because three spoke alloys are aweful, worst thing anyone can do to a car lol

3 stud wheels are getting harder to find these days. well, ebay has somebut a very small selection!
for the tacho, just rob the dials from another saxo, then its one wire that needs running to the ecu!
as for the mirror in the sun visor, i don't have one, but i robbed one for the passengers! lol
