Hey,
I may be selling the car next week, i paid my years insurance straight up last september.
I am going to be buying another car in april.
That leaves me 3 months
My sister has said i can borrow her car for the 3 months i wont have one.
Is it as simple as me swopping my insurance over to that car.
Are both me and my sister able to be insured on the car?
Does she need to go on as my named driver?
If i cancel my insurance will i get some money back?
Should i cancel and go on her insurance as a named driver?
Thanks people :)

im sure theres a law against 2 insurances on one car dont hold me to that tho
if you cancel insurance you might find it had to get money back and it goes against you for future insurance polices

When you get a new car just swap over the cars on the policy. Depending on what you are trading from/to you may get money back or have to pay extra.

cant you just drive your sisters car 3rd party and keep your insurance cuz some insurance let you just drive any car 3rd party.

whatt??? lol
We both cant be insured on the same car with separate polices because its fraud. So i think the only real option i got is to cancel my insurance, but im not sure how that will affect me by canceling it.

Are both me and my sister able to be insured on the car?
No your not, there is a thing called Insurable Interest, basically meaning you need to have some interest in the thing your trying to insure and it cannot also be insured by someone elsewhere. As you dont have any interest in the vehicle, you couldnt insure it under your name
Does she need to go on as my named driver?
If she swaps the car over to your name and wants to drive it then she can Third Party if she is the policyholder on another vehicle (and her policy covers this). To cover her to the same level of cover you have, then named driver is the way.
If i cancel my insurance will i get some money back?
You should do if your not in the first year of insurance with this company.
Should i cancel and go on her insurance as a named driver?
Probably your best bet, your insurance needs cancelling as soon as possible, if your not swapping to another car, you will be able to get your proof of no claims for however many you have, aslong as they are full years.

Hi,
You won't be able to Insure your Sisters car if she is the registered owner and keeper.
You won't be able to have 2 lots of Insurance on it at the same time this is deemed illegal.
If you check with your insurance they will be able to tell you the Cancellation fees / Figure you would get back, However by cancelling you will be losing out on a years NCB.
It might be worth talking to your insurer and seeing if there is anything they can do for the 3 months till you get a car?
Dan.
