Morning Guys,

Need some help regarding this bilberry stuff.

Recieved my 1L bottle from CYC last night and i read the instructions.

The bottle claims that its not reccommended for use on polished wheels.

I currently have a set of 205 GTi speedlines in gloss black with a polished rim but the brake dust build up is terrible!

Has anyone any experience of bilberry and polished wheels?

Heres a picture of the build up. Apologies for the quality
cheers

Are they polished and laquered or just polished???

Tbh ive used it on just bare alloy wheels, just use a very weak mixture, leave it on for 2 minutes (max) and thoroughly wash them off.

Once you have dried them off you should really apply a wheel sealant to stop the alloy corroding.

think just polished mate

As ive been using autosol on the rim to keep it shiny, as recommended by the bloke that painted them

You reckon 2 mins 4:1 with water then jet wash will see them ok?

I use it on my Lenso BSX's, very weak dilute, quick agitate with my detailing brush and a proper rinse down, then seal. Voila!

so it should get the brake dust off, even when weak? or am i going to have to look at an aggresive clay?

Its should easily remove the brake dust make....depending how long its been on the durface though.

After the bilberry has been on for 1 minute have a quick rub with a brush and after the second minute jet wash off.

With it being a bare metal surface i highly recommend that you buy some wheel sealant to stock weather conditions attacking the alloy.

Claying wheels is only really necessary when you have very stuborn marks or baked on tar.

Any problems just give me a pm buddy.

Bilberry is strong stuff. I dilute mine down 1:10 and it still works a treat. Add Poorboys wheel sealent after to make them a gem to wash next time and to protect them :)

Used it and it got a little of the dust off but the wheels still a mess

also it's taken the shine off the wheel, any reason for this?

Shine off the painted surface?????

How long did you leave it for??

When were the wheels re-furbished and were they done professionally??

Aye

Left for 2 minutes as said

wheels were done last April professionally

In that case buddy its a very weard situation as i have never had an issue like this.

Personally i would just give them a buff up with some polish and see what that does.

What ratio did you dilute it to?

J222JRA

if it was diluted as we discussed its like 1:7 water ratio

Hazmanscoop

Tried it at the 1:7 ratio discussed

then the shine went and the wheels weren't clean :(

tried a little bit more maybe 1:6 later on and that still didn't work

Tbh buddy i would contact cyc or who ever you purchased the bilberry off, tell them whats happened and then email them pictures as that really should not have happened....especially at such a weak mixture.

On all the wheels ive used bilberry on....and ive done alot i have Never experienced any problems.

Yeh I spotted a thread on DW the other day and it was about polished rims and billberry and everyone recommned a weak mixture. Not one person that has used it said it marked the rims. may want to post a picture up on there mate.

I use billberry on my polished rims, dilute about 6:1 and scrub, don't leave it to dwell for too long and mines are fine, sure you didn't leave the mix on for an excessive amount of time?

positive mate, i sprayed one wheel at a time as i walked around, then into the garage and filled the bucket, aggitated and rinsed

little more than a couple of minutes
