What do people think is the most common socket size used when working on cars? I think it's either 13mm or 14mm.
Discuss :)

Well, on a fiat, one side of the bumper may have 10mm bolts, while the rear has 13mm bolts.

We're currently swapping from 240v to 230v. But until all transformers are replaced with new ones you will likely always see 240v at the socket.
I've mainly used 10mm :)

Can I just point out on the electricty side of things, we still use 240v. We just changed the tolerences, so we say 230V -5% +10%

Isnt it -6%? +10%?

Constantly using 13mm - 14mm on the exhaust set-up then 10mm for most things in the engine bay!

wouldnt that be 230 -0 +10

No, infact I think it changed again a couple of years back. We revised the grid code in 2008 so it wouldnt suprise me if the tolerences got changed again down the voltages.

We revised it as europe is +6 -6 am sure on 230v system
But as we was already 240v, we went down to 230v in line with europe but had +10 so that all our 240v tested items stay correct. The minus -6 is for any items from europe that are used over here. Thats my understanding as i buy alot of electrical equipment from Italy and Germany etc and i have to make sure they are compatible with all machinery and voltage on site as some things have a very small voltage tolerance on accurate apperatus

We still centre the system around 240V ;)

You won't find a single 13mm bolt on ricers, unlucky numbr and all.

230V -10% +6% (i.e. 207.0 V-243.8 V)
This is now the European standard, remebering Europe has moved up from 220v so we met in the middle!
I got it mixed up and said it was +/- a voltage, when it should of been a percentage of the voltage

Trust me, its still 240V.
