I just passed my test a couple of weeks ago (clean sheet :)) and bought a vtr last weekend, Im fairly happy with it but could do with a bit more power. I had a cavalier gsi back in the day and loved it, after owning a 2l 16v, I suppose the saxo was never going to compare quickness wise.

I was thinking of selling it in a few months and getting an s, if Im not mistaken though, saxos are 2 star ncap rating so not as safe as they could be. Ive got my first baby due mid May so Im thinking that it would be sensible to get something a bit safer. 2 ways of looking at it really, back in the day everyone was running around in less safe/on a par safety wise with a saxo as there wasnt the safety technology that we have today. The other way of looking at it is that today we have the choice to go safer. I would still like to get a valver but if I had an accident in a saxo and anything was to happen to my baby, the guilt of feeling selfish for not getting a safer car would eat away at me.

How unsafe are saxos really?

If I go for something safer then it would be between either an astra sri, focus zetec, possibly a fiesta zetec (bit small for a baby) or a clio 172 (havent checked insurance and also small)

Ive always liked the astras and as I said, I had a cavalier gsi and loved it which leads me to believe that I would also like an astra.

Anyone had one of these, been in one or have any opinions on the above?

Cheers

Danny

With a VTS you'll have airbags. But to be honest, you'll be wise to do your research on various cars' safety, which are in a price range you're willing to pay. I don't really know much about vauxhalls, so I'm sorry I can't really help much there :n:

Saftey features are not something to consider in great depth when buying a saxo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9a8PTeFDaYU) because there's an obvious lack of them :n:

Id go for the SRI personally. Prefer the look of the car plus its safer.
