Anyone know why 3-way components cost so much?
Im looking at investin some money into some quality speakers and noticed that 3-way components cost about £400 smileys/smiley5.gif
Are they really worth spending that much on?

i was thinking of going three ways now to but dont have the time at the minute to build some custom bits for them.
They are expensive because of the extra technology going into the speakers themselves and the crossovers.
worth it though? hmm good question personally i would but most will stick with normal components as they are excellent to

Three ways will offer a more diverse music range and will generally sound better as the sound will be coming from 3 speakers insted of 2, so the frequency range thru each speaker is narrowing, meaning it focuses more on its frequency. They're very good but custom door builds are usually required, unless you use kick builds.
They can be expensive though, the Eton ones i do start at £375

I dont mind making custom door builds, i have been drawing up some new ones for me to make when the weather is a bit better. Was thinking of maybe making some for other people too if you know anyone after some smileys/smiley2.gif
I think i might go for some, there are a few on http://caraudiosecurity.com
I take it everyone would suggest powering them over a amp? or do you think the most head units would be able to cope with them?

Amp, the best way. Get a 6 channel and give each individual speaker its own channel

i am running a sort of 3 way setup
tweeters
5.25inch mids
and the 6.5 inch doing the mid bass
with the 6.5 inch in custom kickbuilds
3 ways is the way to go dude, sounds so much better
