not sure what colour on the wheels to go.
black is overdone
but grey is to light
so i want a lighter black than gloss black?
Plans

fit the longer induction arm
paint calipers
get a turbo back exhaust(milltek)

I don't know why but every time I see one first impression I get is people get them for straight line speed, more like a Corsa with a c20let.
I've never been in one, whats the handling like, and I heard they do stupidly low mpg, is that true?
I once got raped by one when I had the VTS :n::oops:

i think there alot quicker than a vts
handling isnt that bad to be honest
does feel abit like a barge compared to my old car(ax vts)
its all how u drive it to be honest
i get around 35mpg around town which is good to me.
but ive heard a few stories about 20mpg ;)

nice motors these although not as fast as people would have you believe, reliablilty is also something to keep an eye on , a couple of friends of mine had nothing but trouble with theirs, and they slated me for having a 205 (which never went wrong once)!! lol, nice colour too mate, wheels i would go anthracite!! ftw.;)

i must say lovely cars, my best m8s gt one, and its an absolute animal, running uprated turbo/cooler etc, running allot of power, but it was his dad who persuaded him to uprate it all. Its what im looking to get next, and yours looks like a very clean example!

I have the Golf version of this. Mine has been mapped, well apparantly lol.
In a straight line the 20vT will piss all over the vts but stick it on a track or show it some bends, the vts will piss all over the 20vT.
Also, if there is any water on the road you can't get traction when the turbo boosts.....its freakin' annoying.
Getting 35mpg in town is great mate, i drive 10mins to work on the express way (at 70 all the way) and im averaging 22 - 28mpg which sucks!! :n:
They are great reliable cars but mine is up for sale as insurance is a killer. :n:
Yours looks gorgeous by the way :)

i paid 1.5k at 19 so expected prices around that.
i bought vmax ones good enough for me(second hand cheeeap)
i know you can get the weitecs for around 400 though.
im not really loooking for handling mods i like it as it is.
i want a exhaust and decat and a stage one map.
maybe a forge tip and a UNI fmic.

A good machine polish and regular wax / sealing will keep the colour locked in mate.
If you havent got a machine polisher i would advice you give Pred a PM.

Well, it's between one of these (would be looking at K03s, TIP, downpipe, exhaust, panel filter, bypasses etc), or an EP3 Civic (Exhaust, induction, Hondata K100), so both roughly similar power, as well as suspension etc.
Edging much more towards the Biza atm, just for the lure of boost.

My mate has one runing 243bhp handles like shite, its on coilovers too.. needs an lsd.

well i was between the ctr and cupra
ctr was alot more to insure
theres quite a few turbo options to chose between
k03s,hyrbid,gT2X,k04 etc
personally after previously owning a ax vts on 708 catcams and pred ecu i like how the delivery of the power is given out on the cupra hense my chosen car.
you can happily remap a k03 and get 200bhp in standard form but 220 (ish) is achieveable with support mods such as fmic, downpipe, exhaust, tip.
i just need to chose what colour wheels lol

you absolute chav:P
just fitted it earlier
a pain. most of the bolts where rounded so had to get grinder out..
its fitted now no knocking against body or rattling even though i still think it will.
sounds alot better on boost
pops alot more also
the backbox itself does need leveling out as its on the piss abit to right hand side.
but time i took old one of. made new bolts and fitted it
it was freezing.
ill get videos tonight.
just another cheeky clean on with 3 inch on.
http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x75/aaront1234/IMG_0060-1.jpg

Hahaha, i just think that the twin is well over-rated and its very common on cupras / golfs!

I love the sound of my turbo spooling up
Aaron
11th March 2010, 09:35
well
i fitted it,started up and was quieter but let it warm up to let it expanding to see if id get any knocking/rattling which i didnt. then went for a quick drive.
its suprisingly quieter than the 3 inch but makes a better sound.
but had a few pops so im thinking after a spirited run BOOM BOOM BOOM.
but sounds alot better and sits alot more oem.
hopefully the sun comes out for when i get home so i can get the strut braces on:P

Nice mate. From what I'd read these engines run higher torque and bhp using a piper x filter rather than an open cone.
Any plans to up the power?
Aaron
11th March 2010, 10:28
i dont know anyone running a pipercross filter thats including all the big boys with hybrid.
most are running open cones (jetex) for more atmospheric sound(eg wooshy wooshy)
i was looking into the GT2x unit as can pick them up cheap and bolt straight onto downpipe. with the right supporting mods can get around 280bhp.
but at the minute plans are to
forge tip.
some sort of stage 1 map
and possibly a fmic.
nothing to major.
craig180
11th March 2010, 10:34

I've just picked up an octavia vrs with the same engine. Didn't realise just how easy they are to tune.

very easy.
and strong engines. engine can take up to 300bhp on standard internals which is very quick.
any plans for your engine?
also must add
anyone with a mk3 cupra
and trying to fit a lower strut brace
holy shit. its hard. you will need a ramp to fit one.

12th March 2010, 21:17
there going gloss black as i made a decision other week and got the spray sorted etc now.
so gloss black ftw
weirdo. just clean the car and not the wheels and now you have matt black wheels :)
on another note
my rear brake pads arrived.
my lcr splitter is here
and my front toe eye cover in black is here.
and i know for a fact that my exhaust would start rattling and guess what it is.
and also blowing from cat joint. tut.
calipers will be going red and ill be purchasing some rear spacers and giving the coilovers abit more height on the rear.
Aaron
17th March 2010, 17:54
had a fun day today.
went to change rear brake pads earlier this morning
to me this is about a 30 min job nothing more.
usually you would have to just g clamp the piston back in to fit back over.
after some brutal clamping it was still solid.
but i found out later that seat made a brilliant idea. its a turn and push in piston.:@
so i had to go buy a new tool
http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x75/aaront1234/IMG_0080.jpg
pads back on.
http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x75/aaront1234/IMG_0077.jpg
i still need to sort exhaust out as ive bought a new clamp and better bushes.

get those arches cleaned. gave mine a good wash today...
do you feel a big improvement with the strut braces?
ive waxoil'd the top around the arch to stop rust.
ill clean them when the weather becomes shorts and tee weather.
unless you fancy coming down?
the rear i felt a tad of improvement due to having not as much bodyroll.
havent fitted lower
as its a bitch to do without a ramp.

the pads i fitted few weeks back
are squeeking again.
i thought it was the rear but then i started to think it was the front as there green stuf pads.
and then i put my handbrake slightly up and drove along and there was the lovely sound.
so new discs on rear needed.
and probably new rear pads again
Woop.
still need to sort my exhaust out as its rattling & blowing from the front joint after the cat.
i have next week off to start the wheels so thats good.
£10 pound bulbs
they arrived and one was broken.
so got in touch the ebay guy
and he was round the corner so he dropped me a new set off free of charge.:P

Did you try copper greasing the back and edges of the pads and cleaning the carriers of all the shit build up?
Love these cars man, I had a 1.8t TT which was 225bhp, got it remapped to 260bhp and it was like a totally different car. Seriously tunable engines!
