Hey guys i'm 19 and next month i'l have my 2 years no claims :) so im looking for a new car. I'm saving until end of April ish so i'd have about £2000, maybe a few hundred more providing i sell my 1.1 for a good amount. So i was wondering what car you think would be good to get. I was thinking about a VTR but i thought if i've got £2000 or so i might be able to afford something a little more powerfull. So a VTS springs to mind but is in a high insurance group so insurance could be a little too high. Are there any cars cheaper to insure, but more powerful than a VTS?
Insurance wise i wouldn't want to be paying anymore than 1800 a year.
I'd also be looking for something no older than about 8 years old.
So if any of you guys have any ideas or have had a similar queries and experience than it would be good if you could suggest something :) :)
cheers in advance for help :)

have you checked with many insurers 1800 on a vts sounds high at 19 with 2 years no claims.

i've got quotes of 750 fully comp, on a vts at 20, 0ncb, 1 crash listed.

What about a good VTR for say £1600 - £1800 then spend the remaining £700 or so tuning it?

Use the money as a deposit and get a decent car that will last you a few years without breaking all the time.
Fabia VRs, Cvic type S, Corsa C 1.8 SRi.
Not really many cars faster than a VTS with cheaper insurance.
If you shop around you would be surprised how low you can get quotes for performance cars. Just add your parents as named drivers.
Im 19 and am looking at Reanult clio 197, Corsa VXR etc and i've had quotes under 2k. Considering im paying £1500 on my VTS its not to bad really. All in my own name with 2 years driving experience.

im checking now mate, but i prefer to pay insurance in monthly installments as its easier for me as i work part time and the least i get a month is £216 but lately ive been getting over £500, but everyones hours have been cut so im probably going to be getting £500 max. And if insurance were to be 1800 it would be 150 a month and tbh anything over 150 a month seems too much.

Remember, even though VTS's are ridiculously expensive to insure, they are also very cheap for how fast they are

Take a Corsa C Sri for example, they may be less to insure but they are also very, very expensive to buy compared to a VTS.

just done a few vts quotes and cheapest ive got is just under 1500 if i add my parents as additional drivers so looks like i could afford to insure a vts :)
