Yea but its scratched to buggery :( always thought carrying a punctured/flat spare wheel will fail MOT? but not having a wheel is fine?

Rogue_Shadow
18th February 2010, 00:27
Yep, Spare wheel still under my saxo
Haven't check the pressure in quite awhile lol

I cant see removing it saving weight, its only a 13"

id carry it flat jst to keep the back of the sax in check, hav taken it out on occasions and wen pushin hard it feels like the back wants to overtake the front!! :fcuk:

the back end of a saxo isnt bad if you have good tyres on. only bad if you use cheap pish tyres etc.
and you can tell when its going to kick out.

Would have to be pretty damn unlucky for that to happen, how often do you get a normal flat :P

Krys_23

Guess my auntie was talking pish when she said its illegal to not carry a spare..

Ive had two tyres go on me on a motorway on seperate occasions. Both because they happened suddenly at motorway speeds wrecked the tyres (by that I mean a seperation from the sidewall on the inner/outer)

17s on the clio I think I had 4flats in no time aswell. Thank god i have normal wheels on it now.

i carry one. got full interior and boot build so its not going to make much difference

Krys_23
18th February 2010, 01:01
I'd say there would be a slight noticable difference in not carrying one, Weight is a very important factor.

liam-o
18th February 2010, 01:06
i carry one, just to be on the safe side,

had a nail in mine, was 200 miles away (dont think it would have lasted me on the motorway) so put the spare on

saxolenny
18th February 2010, 02:14
have a spare vtr alloy but dont carry it because my car is too low .... it would be too heavy on the back and may scrape ........ it saves weight :)

correct - 1 point :y:

Incorrect. -1 point.

The spare tyre is not part of an MOT. Road tyres only are tested. They can check the spare, and advise you of it but it is NOT part of the test.

Why people continue to believe it has to be in good condition is beyond me. Same way you can't get 3 points for a dodgy spare yet this is another myth people continue to believe.

And I don't carry a spare. Lolz at tail happy saxos!

I have one on my new saxo.. 'cause I havnt lowered it yet.. but my old saxo was Low... so I took the wheel off... I thought it was too low and it would catch on things so I took it off... Could even get the jack from underneath.. from the back! :P

Graeme
18th February 2010, 10:17
never used to have one on my saxo and the 182 didnt even come with one

savo
18th February 2010, 11:09
My old vts didnt have one when i bought it so carried a tin of tyre weld round with me instead...and when i got my first flat i found out that tyre weld is fucking useless so never bothered with it again.

Fudging hell. That tyre looks bald in that pic!

Tontsy
18th February 2010, 18:27
having a shit spare, or no spare or even a good one at MOT doesnt make any difference.
SPARE DOES NOT GET CHECKED IN AN MOT!
not does rear wiper
reverse lights

tyre weld is the biggest fucking RIP OFF ever!
you get a puncture / nail . . . drive that 3 mile to somewhere to get it sorted, DONT use tyre weld, because then you have to buy a new tyre! pay 10er of having it repaired or 50 on a new tyre . . . and if its not repairable, then tyre weld wont do shit for it anyway!

and no, i dont carry one.
tyres well i go through them as much as i want, trade tyre prices FTW!

I would like to carry a spare, but I only have a trolley jack that will fit under my car and that stays at home lol, no jacks are small enough to take with me. I need one thats 'low profile' lol. :(

It was long past its prime that tyre i think! Shoulder does look pretty bald too, i dont remember it being that bad at the time but this happened shortly after i bought the car!

Those alloys have known nothing but Eagle F1's since my ownership :D

18th February 2010, 22:05

19th February 2010, 06:44
carrying a spare wheel on a day to day car wont make mutch difference when there is lots of other shit in the boot most of the time so its stays there :P
