Same here:going downhill soaking wet into roundabout, the car just did not break, almost saved it by flooring the pedal but ran out of road, kissed a border and damaged a tyre wall. Happened to a lot of people I know, and they're all sensible drivers.
It's been raining for 72 hours straight, and there are pools of water everywhere at the moment, even major roads. It is definitely safe to back down at least 10/15 mph from your usual speed. Go on crap or bald tyres there and you will lose it guaranteed.

Happened to me in a megane a while back, road was very wet. i was going a little fast (maybe 5-10mph faster than i should have been) but a lowered car didnt help (very back end friendly). Ended up sliding into curb and damaging 2 of the rims :(
