right i guess its the back disk you are talking about when you mention handbrake?..
try heating the caliper up avoiding heating any pipes or plastic parts!.

If the brake is sticking on check your caliper is free to move in an out. Best way to check is jack car up, remove wheel. Unbolt caliper from hub. Hang Caliper fron Suspension Spring (coathanger wire). Press brake peddle. Check Caliper piston rubber seal for splits/leaks. If ok remove the brake fluid resevoir cap (to release pressure) and push caliper piston (slowly, so as not to spill brake fluid)back into the caliper. Refit as reverse.

If it is thre rear disk yhen the caliper piston has a cross+ shape. Best way to push it in is to (remove Brake fluid level cap as previous post)and "screw" it in. It does work an I was surprised how easy it was.

Rember to realign the + on the caliper piston so that the - shape on the rear pads sits in the groovy baby yeah!

you have got it all wrong!.
1, there was a mention of the handbrake! "even when the handbrake is on.lol"
2, you dont remove the resevoir cap to stop pressure, you risk the chance of popping the master cylinder that way. the correct way is to losen the bleed nipple to avoid damage!. you will need to bleed the brakes afterwards though!.

if you remove the cap it's easier to push the piston back in. Trust me Haynes is wrong I love my VTR an i wouldn't give advice if it was wrong.

Yeah if it's just the 1 caliper. Rubber has a tendancy to perrish. It could be the caliper rubber. The caliper is pushed out (when the brake is applied) and should return when released. If noy the seal has been compromised (split/hole). Replace it. you should be able to get a caliper repair kit (got one, one time for my Orion). Hope this helps. smileys/smiley17.gif

sounds to me like the caliper has seized!. this happens once the rubber has perished and dirt and water gets onto the shafts the caliper slides back and forth on!.
if it seizes you get the stuck caliper!. i did this on my mates car a few weeks ago, i had to heat the caliper up and tap it back and forth til it began to budge!.
once it starts to move get some wd40 onto the shaft it slides on being careful not to get too much of it on the disks!. if it does get on the disks give them a wipe with a cloth soaked in parafin!.
