Anyone done or doing a HND in some sort of Engineering?
Im on an Engineering foundation year atm which leads to a degree but im also considering doing a HND instead after this foundation year.
Any advice?
Thinking of doing civil or mechanical engineering.

don't do the HND mate, stay on the foundation and go on to a degree. I did a HND in CAD and it's proved totally useless...anything you learn on a foundation year will be more than what you learn for a HND i reckon

In what way is it useless mate? Could you jump straight into the second year of a degree course with your HND?

I did a HND in EE a while ago. That allowed me to skip the first year of my degree. You learn a lot more on a HND than on a foundation year, thats why you skip the first year of the degree. Been a while since I did mine tho.
I would normally say do it, especially if your maths is not too good. For example, the intro calculus on the HND is a bit easier.
But if your already doing a foundation I would just finish that then start on the first year of the degree. It'll take you less time to get your degree.

I'm surprised you can even do a HND in CAD, I thought it would be just a single module in something like a MechEng HND.
