Thought i would make a progress thread atlast. Well had many of cars since passing my test 4 years and a day ago and my last car was my mk1 vtr which got wrote off badly but since that i bought a 02 posi furio last september.

Old vtr:

I bought the car from Kings lynn if any of you know where that is and i live in Norwich so drove it home which took around an hour and soon as i parked up in the garden those wheels came off and these went on:

http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk36/r155urv/DSCI0010.jpg

I was using the car daily for work and going here and there and a squeeky noise started coming from the back and i could see the wheels wobbling around in the mirror! so i checked the rear axle and it was total and utter shot! so i decided to get my old vtr axle and fit a new stub pin and fit:

http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk36/r155urv/DSCI0020.jpg

fitted new disks and painted calipers gold while at it:

I have also stuck on posi blue mirror cap covers. Just before christmas i bought a dimma grill and sprayed posi blue and fitted, also put in my blacked out rear lights from my old vtr. Oh also bought 40mm spax front lowering springs but they are still sitting in my boot waiting to be fitted as i cant loosen my torsion so im not going to put the front 40mm down with the back up........ I havnt taken any pictures lately with all the other stuff done but i will do soon and post them up. AAHH i have the rear windows fitted from my old vtr too just because i had WWW.SAXPERIENCE.COM on them :D:D New number plates with a blue boarder and GB badge as a stone cracked my old front one (think the blue boarder and GB badge looks good on a posi blue saxo).

I still have lots of future plans:
40mm all round
106 gti full leather interior
16V conversion or 8V (still considering because the 8V are stronger although the 16V is that bit quicker).
drilled and grooved disks
spray headlight inserts black
omp upper strut and lower brace
may put MK1 spoiler on? (give me opinions on that).
cam which ever engine i choose and remap
full stainless decat and manifold if i can get hold of them
and more bits and peices.

I like the wheels you put on, and really don't like the old wheels!

Also, not keen at all on the exhaust.

3rd Posi blue you've had isn't it? :D.

Sure is lol had a posi vsx posi vtr n now the furio, the furio looks a darker blue than the vtr??? is there 2 different colours? The exhaust came with the car but i intend to put another one on maybe the 5" one off my vtr. You think the hole vtr setup would bolt on? the furio has the cat in the manifold.

after having the engine being fitted the trottle wedfged opened so i had to stop on the side of the road and remove the airbox and pipe to find that one of the little bolts with the star head that holds the butterly in place had somehow came out, obviously i didnt know where it had gone so it was a risk to start the car again incase it had gone internal but i risked it and it ran ok so there i was nearly home and it cut out and started with one hell of a rattle so a mate towed me home. I did a compression test and it was down...... the bolt had got in and done the head, the anoying part is when i put the engine in it was running on 3 cylinders so i stripped the head and put back together and it turned out to be an injector down and this happened less than a week after the head was fitted up so iv had to head gaskets in less than a week. Il let the pics do the talking.

Oh as the bolt had inbedded itself into the head and somehow broke the cam lobe without bending the valves i decided to go to Cit-ren and get a second hand head with the cams, it came with the dipstick tube which i was in need of and a set of cam covers so i now have 3 sets of them! i cleaned the bottom end up and the head so it was all ready to put together and the next day i cracked on and nailed it but struggled with the timing abit as my marks didnt align up somehow but i dont know how, anyway i did it the proper way by locking the crank with a 6mm drill but and then locking the cams. When all of this was done it wouldnt start but that turned out to be the ecu had locked so i put the old 1.4 ecu and to my suprise it started fine and it has done since its just abit slower.

A mates sister reversed out of there garden straight into my door! i was gutted but the good thing was my mate went the next day and got a posi blue door off a mk1 westcoast and i took the car round his when i had finished work so his dad could fit the new door. The colour match is perfect you wouldnt even know its been changed!

citroen_saxo_vtr
14th June 2010, 20:25
Yep it has a vtr rear disc axle, i looked into the front brakes and the furio fronts are the same as the vtr so i then looked into the difference btween vtr and vts and they are the same again according to the apec braking book but i put new brakes front and rear so in theory it has vts brake setup apart from ABS.

Jas_saxo 16v it one day you will love it!

As some of you may know a few weeks after the 16v lump was in i got a serious vibration it shook the front of the dvd face off and broke the connection, dash was shaking bad........... its been like it just over a month and last week i changed the top gearbox mount and the lower rear one seemed fine and so did the actual engine mount but today it really got on my nerves so i thought sod it this was quarter past 9 tonight i put a jack under the engine to support it (had the hastle of driving onto a bit of wood to raise the front to get the jack under) i undone the 2 13mm bolts to discover the bolt that holds the mount to the bracket had snapped :D iv got a 1.4 mount and vtr so i simple changed it and fitted up and its cured it!!! i thought it would be a right bitch to take on but no its easy so if any of you ever think nah im not taking it on just do it it took me half hour. Tools you will need are 13mm socket, a ratchet, extension for the ratch around 4inches long and a T50 star bit also obviously a jack to suport the engine. Its a little tricky to get the mount back in when attached to the bracket but juck the engine up higher and it goes in easy.

Another tool you will need is a T30 star bit and a new mount either orange or green with the bolt as the old one will be snapped...

Iv still got alot to do and it will get done in time.

Lower the rear
upper and lower strut braces
full supersprint
16v ecu
gti leather interior
maybe VTS alloys in white
tint the rear windows

Iv still got alot to work on and more things i want to do just cant think of them.

If anyone has any ideas what else to do let me know. I will post more pics up soon when i get batterys for the camera...........

Iv now also got standard VTS door badges fitted now aswell.
I wanted something that lit up when i locked the car with the remote so i had a mad idea and got a rear window brake light from a saxo and removed all the surround so its got the 5 bulbs, i then put it between the roof lining and the roof so it was above the interior mirror (not noticable the slightest due to the black round the window screen) i then wired it to the passenger side door central locking so that when i now lock/unlock the car iv got 5 lights light up along the top of the window screen. Will have pics of this when i get the chance.

Slow progress but next on the cards is going to be a new ecu. My bro has his old classic car in the garage and its been there 8 years but its now time to move it so the garage will be empty :D I will put putting the saxo off the road for a few days and fitting uprated cams, full adjustable suspension along with a refurbed axle. The engine will be coming out again and the engine bay resprayed, wax oiled underneath.... list goes on but there should be a good few updates in a month or twos time.

Pic off the old beast coming out of the garage to make way for me to get the saxo in

I like the lights that dark lol its only in day light you cant see them... The plod have never ever told me they are ilegal they were more concerned out the number plates being ilegal lol fools. I hear your doing some smoothing on the chalkboard???

I bought the grill of ebay in white and sprayed it posi blue and did the lights a while ago, i used the guide on here putting them in the oven, I sort of left one of them in abit too long and its started to melt the bottom bracket lol. I wasnt too sure weather i liked the grill or lights done at first but they have grown on me and look alot more agressive. To be honest i was never a fan of the mk2 front end but i actually love it now. I have done everything to it thats been done apart from the engine conversion which my other halfs dad did but i took part in fitting the driveshafts and stuff and helped rewire the loom.

Shall be soon. Got a few bits to do on it soon! Your lights are ridiculous :) Its awesome.

I passed my MOT with one advisory today, which was a tyre getting low on tread. So hopefully i'll get going with some of my plans soon!

What are you doing with your rear axle now then? Getting another one?

citroen_saxo_vtr
16th October 2010, 12:02
Good going on the MOT :D. Mine got one advisory minor leak of gases but that was in june lol. Im going to keep the axle on for the time being but i think i will get one from IM axles and lower it 60mm instead of the 80-90mm it is at the moment. I might be going abit euro on wide dish wheels in time. Iv now stuck standard VTS badges in vt trim so people now know its a 16v, It will throw a few people out who knew the car being a furio they will think iv just badged it up lol.

looking good mate, when it comes to lowering my car (via the rear) hows the best way to do it??

citroen_saxo_vtr
14th December 2010, 21:42
Theres a few different ways to lower it but my torsion was seized to i bought the axle lowered and fitted.

I have now got 175amp battery cable and plumped through the bulkhead to the boot and got a massive battery in the boot for the winter as i have had trouble with the battery going flat due to short runs to work, im running the battery under the bonnet and one in the boot so theres plenty of life there now but iv got a cut off switch so it dont give the alternator to much hard. As some of you may know i have had alot fo trouble with the saxo, passenger central locking actuator, battery keep going flat........... Anyway today i have spend around 4 hours and now starting to sort it out, reason for the battery was a wire had broken again for the alternator and the door i got a lock actuator from an old boot lock i had, it was a mission to do and i bent the rod for the door pin so i decided to take the hole mechanism out and so away with the rod so now i have a depinned passenger door and my door car is all fitted back on its alot better than it was before so thats now 2 things out the way and the axle is next!!

Extras i have added are xenon R1072 bulbs the 100% brighter with a slight blue tint (road legal) they are pure white nearly unlike the old bulbs.

I have replaced the air temperature sensor and it runs alot better now!

Looking good. :clapping:

I really like the smoked rear and smoked headlights....you should smoke your fog lights to match.

What do use to keep your wheels so clean(the silver edge, in the first few pics they are spotless)....Mine have marks on that I can't seem to remove (we have the same wheels :D )

As some of you know i had a bad idle issue and lose of power so i got a 3 plug vts ecu and it still didnt cure the problem so i replaced loads of sensors but tonight at random i fitted a new lambda sensor and its cured the problem! its actually running like a proper vts!!

New update got another axdle from charlie on here! its the 4th axle the car has had but now it sits perfect with no camber and not as low so its alot better! I fitted it all up and the passenger caliper thread went on while trying to put the brake union in so i did it as tight as i could but it pissed fluid out so i had to change the caliper and while doing so i somehow slipped with the bar and broke my nose lol but it was well worth it with the end result, pics will be taken and uploaded tomorrow........ Im a happy bunny :D

Turbo? TB it?

It hasnt had any engine work done really as yet, its awaiting a new gearbox hopefully a 1.4xsi box! I intend on camming it and a after market ecu before christmas. I do have one problem again with it though, it will sometimes idle fine but then it will just randomly cut out? If you continue driver say for 50 miles it will go away for 50 miles lol i think its the TPS sensor?

citroen_saxo_vtr
5th May 2011, 18:09
Polished cam covers are coming along nicely too! they should hopefully be on before Mod nats. Few other bits ie broken headlight has been fixed and washer bottle pump replaced, exhaust gasket and fitting kit all new, Just the gearbox and sort the idle issue and she will be nearly done, then it will be time to move onto the bigger mods!

raunchz
5th May 2011, 18:17
Idle issue issue could be tps or idle valve.

Hard to say without testing the sensors individually.

Gearbox transforms the car! It just picks up so well!! Like the sound of bigger mods!! An aftermarket Ecu and throttle bodies would sort the idle issue :p
