When my car comes out of the bodyshop and I can wash it again for the first time I obviously want to get it on top form and protect the paint the very best I can.

Iv been looking at CYC and just wondered what products you would suggest I get. Iv never used anything other than the stuff you can get at Halfords so im not really sure whats best. So if you could suggest some stuff that would be great.

Protection wise.....once the cars been polished you need to add sealant and wax...they stop the paintwork been damaged by bird crap etc etc etc

Now iirc you have a re rallye??? The reason i ask is, some products especially wax are designed for certain colours. (most are anyway...some are universal)


For yours i would use first of all cleanse the paintwork to remove any oils etc etc etc to ensure the wax sticks properly,

Sealant i would use this,

I would then if possible keep the car dry for 24 hours and apply a coat of this,

You have to wait 24 hours else it will strip the wax.

All of the above products (sealant and wax) imo are best applied with mf applicator pads,

And buffed off with a good quality mf cloth like these,

Once you have done all the above you will be left with a good mirror / glossy finish, the its just a case of maintaining the surface with good washing techniques and applying wax every few weeks.


For best results though its important that the surface has been clayed and polished before doing the above.

Ive always been told that you should allow the freshley painted surfaces to "breath" for a few weeks first before waxing, by all means polish the car after it has been flatted with wet/dry. to get that gloss finish and also to remove that "orange peel" effect, then after a few weeks wax the paint after it has settled.;)

I discussed this with the OP in his last thread David.

Told him personally i would leave the paintwork for a good 6 weeks before even washing :y:

People who start waxing / polishing straight away tend to regret it a few months later lol

Yea I wont be waxing it for a few months, I do intend on cleaning it very gently though.
The cars a daily so not cleaning it will do more harm than good. I spent a while looking at what stuff is safe to use on new paint and what not to use/do.
