Adjusted the brake pedal now have a problem!

basically i adjusted the brake pedal this morning due to having loads of play in it and before i had noticed a slight noise when putting the brake pedal down slowly a sort of click noise and only from the drives caliper. now i have adjusted the brake pedal it is even louder and more frequent. Anyone had this before and what can i do to solve it. the brakes work really well so no problems but god i hate having a noise when i dont know what it is!!! Help me please any ideas would be perfect

well have a look at the caliper when someone is pressing the brake pedal to make the noise.

Could be a sticky slider pin

Maybe you've over tightened the brake bar? Do the brakes bind now ?

i have looked when someone is pushing the pedal but couldnt see anything. what is the slider pin? nah the brakes dont bind there good now but honestly i cant stand this noise, if i knew what it was i wouldnt care :/

I believe the slide pin or pins are the two pins the caliper slides along there's normaly rubber sleaves over them them to stop ingress of dirt sounds more like the noise could be comming from the pedal itself check the connection at the top of the pedal.

well seing as its important and its to do with the brakes i thought it was fine. didnt hurt anyone but if my brakes were fucked could have got bad

the noise is diffinatly from the caliper but i feel the noise as it happens in the pedal sort of tick in the pedal aswel.

Caliper bolts nice and tight?

Any play in the wheel at all?

i could always check the bolts but they seemed good and there isnt any play in the wheel.

They need to be TIGHT and should have threadlock aswell ideally.

ok i think they are really tight tho it only happens when u put the foot on the pedal slowly. how can i check the slide pins to see if they are sticking? and how can i clean them up?

Take the bolts out that hold them in. You can't really miss them.

Personally I'd just strip it al down as you suggested. Grease the slider pins back up, you can't miss them. Two bolts holding them in iirc.

ok there is a small plate on them aswel is this right? how do the bolts come out? are there the ones holding the caliper to the hub?

They secure the caliper to the yoke yes.

Then the yoke is bolted to the hub.

It's the caliper carrier.

The carrier (yoke) is bolted to the hub (2 x 19mm bolts iirc)

The caliper is bolted to the yoke by it's slider pins. 13mm possibly?

Yerh it'll be in the haynes manual.

if you get under there and have a look it'll be quite clear.

2 19mm bolts hold th yoke to the hub and then 2 more bolts hold the caliper to the yoke via the slider pins. they've usually got plugs covering them to stop dirt and crud getting in there.

ok so undo the 2-19mm bolts and will the caliper be able to come off the hub? then can i find the other 2 bolts

Can leave the yoke bolted to the hub.

Just undo the two other bolts for the sliding pins.

ok and they are the 13mm ones? are they easy to see then? and will anything fall off when i undo the bolts? im guessing i just clean up the sliding bolts and where they came from then grease them back up and torque them back in?

ive been told there allen key heads with rubber caps on. is this right? i just undo them and clean them up then?

Ok, if i were you i would just do it and have a go without asking a question about each and every aspect. it should be fairly common sense if somethig is going to fall off. if not just hold the caliper etc.

erm ok well when it comes to brakes its a bit more important. yeh im going to have a go but if there is a chance something will go wrong i will get someone else to do it. i just dont want to fuck it up and be feft with more trouble

not ideal - clean them up, regrease them and job done

after trying loads of different things to cure the noise im still lost!! i took a video today and im trying to load it up at the moment shouldnt take to long. i did notice tho that i can move the pad then its in the caliper on the car is that bad and could this be part of a problem with it moving when my foot is on the brakes?
