Right a simple question... I think....
Basically I am signed up to broadband but have a 10gb limit, this total is the total of upload and download traffic. So my question is until I can change providers how much would you estimate that an hour of MW2 on Xbox Live takes in total of download and upload??
When I took out the contract I never imagined I would play online and I only ever use the internet for browing and buying bits online. So just want to know what I can get away with playing online without going over my 10gb limit

I am with sky and was on their base package. I didnt download anything for a month just browsed the net for a few hours a day and played on the xbox live for approx 30 mins each day and my useage was 10gb. hence the reason why sky have now auto upgraded me to their next package.

I can't help you on figures or anything but all I no is we had quite a big broadband download limit and since modern warfare 2 came out we have had to upgrage to unlimited download for only another £5 a month. Edit: this was with sky also

Xbox/PS3 hog the Upload, not the download.

mmmm doesn't sound great then. I was online for an hour or two last night for the first time and loved it. May have to go unlimited then. I only expect to use it at the weekends though for maybe 4 hours max. So 12 hours a month... Would still be interesting to get some figures

Go with Virgin, we're on 10meg, and can happily manage with brother on PS3, other one on the Xbox and me and mum online on our computers, without noticing any problems :y:

I am probably not the worlds biggest gamer but when I am in the mood to play I will regularly go over the 10gb limit on the basic BT plan. The charge for going over is now £1 per gb over so it would add up if you did it often.

Not diverting to an internet usage thread, but with my Xbox usage, and general internet usage is frequently hit 50Gb of D/L per month and 30Gb up. I'm classed as a heavy user not surprisingly.
This is what everything else on the network uses. My xbox links directly to my server so its bandwidth usage is not included in the data below.http://www.saxperience.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=12315&stc=1&d=1268335808

Yeah thats why I want to get an estimate for what I can use so that I know how long I can go online without going over the limit or at least by too much

what i'll do is go online now and play for an hour and then work it out from there to give a rough estimate :y:

right well after a couple of hours playing, it works out to approx 30-40Mb/hour (inclusive of uploads)

thanks matey thats just what i wanted to know. i have a crap homehub, but found it stores usage and after an hour it estimated 20 mb upload and 10 mb but thought that must have been incorrect as it seemed too low. Still it shows you that you its uses hardly anything. You can easily play 20 hours and be safe in the knowledge that you will use 1 gb max! :)

Please note however that if you're hosting a match on MW2 the bandwidth combined can increase to 150-170Mb. Unfortunately XBL automatically selects the host with the best connection so if yours is the best then you're more likely to be host. A few times i've been host - i've only noticed this as my d/l and u/l rates are considerably higher.

Ok ill bare that in mind, we hardly use the internet probably 5-8 hours a week of browsing and shoping ect. So if i based my average usage of the internet at 5gb a month then i have 5gb a month to play with. Even with an average of 150 per hour ill get 6 hours ish per gb so can average 30 hours a month which is plenty until i can change providers in june

If your anything like me you will also be grabbing the free demos, level addons, video and so on off Live. Just be careful with these as some these can be well over 1gb on there own :O

As you can see from my screen shot above my monthly usage is high before i whack on the xbox on top of that. I think last month i hit 55Gb downstream and 60Gb up. Jan as shown there is a low to average month.
