It is a shame. Both his performances against Man Utd where very good. He's a fantastic player and can offer so much with that right foot.
Hopefully, it's not as bad as it sounds.

but sounds like it may be end of his international career :(

I swear some people who post and claim to know football really must not actually watch it at all.
Beckham is still a fantastic player, anyone who watched the AC milan game against united midweek can see the impact he made on the game in a short period of time.
England will miss him at the world cup, he is not as fit as he was but is a fantastic individual to bring on as a sub and whip some crosses in, as a striker isnt much good if they are not getting the service they need from midfield.

End of his career all together IMO, the guy was a legend, an ambassador for Football, If it wasn't for that guy we wouldn't have got into WC2002 and because he was missing we didn't get into Euro 2008, his presence in the team will effect the squad, only Beckham can deliver a long ball in the England Squad, we will miss him come June.

I think the squad will miss his presence.
Who else can supply croses/long range passes to the same quality as Beckham?
He created a lot of goal scoring opportunites for England. I also belive he "holds" the team together to some extent.

I feel sorry for him, I think he was/is a legend one of the best free-kick/corner takers english football has ever seen IMO (of course) If it weren't for Viccy he would never of left the premiership i don't think.
On another note......
i also feel sorry for Owen injuring his hamstring (cause there were a few rumours flying around about him being called up)

feel he will be such a lose to the team....great player in his day but still can do his bit now... that strike during the week against united was perfect.. hit it so sweet...... i think lennon should start on the right ( when he is fit ) ( and im a spurs fan )

You also get F1 Drivers doing a few laps around a circuit getting £M's
I do agree that they are over-paid though. And if they were paid less, then ammissions would be cheaper meaning lower league clubs could actually start filling their stadiums again.
I also think people think being a footballer is all easy easy, without considering all the training that they do plus the constant pressure from fans/managers. I reckon it would be pretty intimidating playing infront of 50,000+ people. Plus i bet the novelty of not being able leave their house without attracting crowds of attention would soon wear off. I certainly dont think I could handle the constant attention.
Although I wouldn't mind a wag. Or a nice Lambo.

it's life....
Beckham has been amazing for english football tbh, not as great as he used to be, but as mentioned the strike for milan vs utd the other day was outstanding. He brings summit to the time that the likes of james milner, lennon etc cant.

I've ont followed football for a while, but I can't see how any englishman could be glad that he won't be with us for the world cup. Let's hope Rooney keeps on good form because from the little i have heard/seen lately he seems to be the only thing going for our squad at the moment, correct me if I'm wrong because as I said not followed it for a while now.

i thinks its a real shame that becks will probably not make the world cup. Just him being there would have lifted the younger players. Plus it would have been the big send off for his glittering career as I can see him retiring from football soon.
I echo RJohnson (class name btw) if Rooney gets injured then we're fucked.

Its been said beckham may be invited to join the squad no matter what. more as a morale booster than anything to the younger players

Yup. England had a perfect setup for that position. Play Lennon/Walcott/Wright-Philips (delete as appropriate) for 60 minutes until they can run no more, then either bring on Lennon/Walcott/Wright-Philips (delete as appropriate) as a swap if that route is yielding results, however if a change of plan is needed David offers the best crossing options in the world, handy with Rooney's current desire to score with his bald spot.
Need someone to come on and lift a team? See the Milan game last week. Okay, it didn't help Milan but Beckham at least looked dangerous and created something. Not bad against an awesome United team when you only have 9 other outfield players, all suffering some degree of leprosy...
I think we'll really struggle now without him

hes a quality player, always has been from the early days back at man utd til now. just because he was at the peak of his career quite a few years back doesn't mean hes at the bottom of the food chain now...i still rank him as highly as i did back when he played for united. this is why i reckon its a shame for him to miss it. the world cup wouldnt be the same without becks really. even if he wasnt in the starting 11 for england in last world cup!!
just my two cents
