My next door neighbour is selling red diesel to people/filling his tank up?

Now this isn't fair. What should I do?

life sucks, but hows it affect you? i had years of running on cherry, certainly don't now for 2 reasons, first i can't afford the consequences of getting rumbled, and secondly,if you buy red legitamately, its not a huge amount cheaper then white.

It annoys me because me along with others have to pay for fuel, we own loads of cars/vans so the bills rack up.

I can't use red derv because my saxo is petrol plus i aint doing it, i'm not a lowlife has to sink to breaking the law.

how can it affect you that much its not making the petrol go up in price or the diesel at the pumps how can you be pissed at one guy trying to make abit of money/saving abit of money i bet the money isnt going towards terrorism or drug dealing its possibly to make payments on his house or to live and buy stuff for the family (if he has one) but how does it bother you that much?

i got dipped years ago and i didn't lose my truck but got charged back duty calculated on the mileage c+e considered i had done using red. don't even need to dip tanks now to check for dodgy fuel these days.

tbh yes it is illegal but am sure if people had a old diesel they would use red know somone used it for years and sed if he gets caught it will still be cheaper because he owns a farm and obv uses red for farm equipment etc and its not just him for using it you may stop him but wont bout all the other people he will get a fine probz at most and carry on o the other people go to someone else it wont stop anything

i know a lorry driver who picked up diesel from the port and what happened was the same fuel was put into both tanks in the tanker but the customs man then poured red die into the tank that was tax reduced!
so it is the same fuel
it is usualy due to the red being stored in dirty farm tanks and poured into cars through funnels and dirty cans that make the cars using it have problems
also lots of boats and tractors and machinary worth tens of thousands use the red so it could not possibly be inferior in any way

It's often a lower grade. Boats/tractors etc do not use the same sort of tech that a car does, a BMW 535d is a fairly special bit of kit and revs much higher than heavy machinery.

red diesel is no different to white, the only difference is the dye that changes the colour and obviously the tax.

but tbh if there was such a thing as red petrol and my neighbour was selling it on the cheap lets just say i wouldnt be reporting him!! so i take it you love paying £1.20 per litre then and wish it would go up more?

My family owns two farms and we still have to pay full for diesel for our cars despite having red diesel on site so why should someone else think they above the law.

This would really get me annoyed too. I'd say photographic evidence/recording and then pass these on to the police.

red hasn't got the same lubricants in it as white, my friend is a manager for shell oils and we looked into it many times. yes, ship engines may be worth millions but are designed to run on low grade fuels just like rolls royce multi fuel engines,lister diesels etc, but check out the damage prolonged running on red will do to a transit TDCI pump or such like. Old Di Trannys, Land Rover Tdi's, Ford 1.8 diesels etc were built to much "looser" tolerances then modern diesels with their common rail technology etc which is why they need the lube that is contained in white.

A friend of mine used to run his audi on red cause he lived on a farm and it was free haha (well his dad paid for it) but it fucked the pump up after a year or so, so a new pump was fitted and it never saw a drop of red again...... we just use it in the tractors and the landie we use round the farm (not on the road) also used to run a 7.2litre detroit diesel on red in a ram was well fun black smoked like fuck pump was wound right out haha!

Do trains run on Red derv? They get hammered and have to produce ALOT of power really quick.

Oh wait, i just remembered. The train derv engine turns a electric turbine. Derv trains ach have electric power at the wheels.

This is also true. I saw this bloke in chelford famers market gettin harrased by C+E about his Range Rover, and they were giving it all the if we find any red they we will conviscate your vehicle and crush it!

And he said yeah ok you might as well take the keys now its been on red for 10 years now! :P But he said can you dip it anyway so you have evidence etc etc, so the wankers dipped his tank and he jumped in the cab and spead off shouting 'Its a fucking Petrol you wankers' haha was the funniest thing ive ever seen!! :drink:
