Tomorrow will involve cutting the standard 1800cc prop down and re welding it back together. Hopefully get it sent off to heathrow props to be balanced aswell

looks good tom.
is this your own, or doing it for someone?
H frame as axle stands seem like a good idea, but i find them to have shit balance.

I am slowly buying one of them. I have put a large deposit down on one of them and will be paying monthly installments.
It will be used as a demo car for ATG Training to advertise a motorsport course they will be doing in 6-8months time. This means they can use it at any time with given notice but keeps the costs down for me.
Which means the cost of me buying it is very very cheap, even though i do have to build it ;)
H frames are doing a splendid job for me at the moment

Is pic number 3 an enhine or a gattling gun? Either way it would be a pretty cool addition to the car :P

Does this mean i can now start stripping the Furio for you Tom? :P
New project looks very good though!
I didn't know ATG did a motorsport course? I'm sure when i went for a tour they only had engineering and mountain bike courses going?

Yer they are looking to start one in and around september-december time if it gets enough interest.
The furio will remain the trusty(not-so) run around for abit longer. This car will remain a track day special i believe

Oh i see, yeh i went for a look round for a engineering course but spent most of the time drooling over the bikes they had there
So let me know when the not so trusty run around becomes the not so working run around :y:

how does it come?? u buy the shell and frame and it all bolts together??
then a choice of what engines fit?
Sparco_Tom
17th March 2010, 23:30
every nut, bolt, body panel, chassis etc comes in a box. Engine loom ecu and prop shaft need to be obtained separate. Although I'm sure Westfield can supply various engines. In this case it was us who found the donor cars

aaa right.... they look fun :) but they all look the same caterham, tigers (i think there called) and westfeilds thats what has always put me off

it is a mazda box, if your doing a rwd project use a ford type 9 or mt75, as bellhousing are much easier to come by.

Easy you get a chassis, box of bits, a manual. Then it's like a big mecano set

looking good. why did you choose the 1800 over the 1600 though? the 1600 is alot stronger engine. is it going to be a road car or just for the track.
Sparco_Tom
18th March 2010, 07:56
just going to be a track, demo car for ATG.
The 1800 was recommended by Westfield and 2 donor cars were obtained cheap and easily

18th March 2010, 08:10
fair enough. i build mx5's for the ma5da racing championship but we use the 1600s with a 50tho head skim and 3 angle valve cuts. its close racing. with the mazda engine in the westfield it should have ample amounts of power

yep, it sure its.
the mazda westfields feel nice to drive and should keep you happy. you WILL want more power though. i guess as ive driven probably over 100 different westfields i dont think the normal engine cars feel that quick.
good thing is there are plenty of tuning bits out there to keep you happy.
oh and for the record, the westfield owners club had an open day at the factory where we offered to weigh their cars on the corner weights.... out of all their tuned, lightened cars the standard mazda car demo was the lightest of them all.....:y:

Mazda power will be fine tbh. Already in the pipe line is itb's and cams though. Also looking at making my own 4-1 manifold
I made the loom for number plates lights today so maybe it will get passed by vosa and become road legal.
