View Full Version : Important! : driveshaft not goin right into diff..

i recently broke the o/s driveshaft in the diff of my vtr mk1. i have now got a new box and driveshaft from another vtr. the new shaft fits the old box and the n/s shaft stil fits the new box to i know both parts are the right 1s. but my o/s shaft will only go into diff so far n still needs go in another 4-5mm. iv tried beating it with block of wood n hammer and slackened bolts on carrier to allow me to attatch onto engine but still cant get it ryt the way in.... any1 had this problem or know how to resolve it....??? plz i need help with dis 1 lads!!:wallhttp://www.saxperience.com/images/emoticons/banghead.gif:http://www.saxperience.com/forum/images/smilies/panic.gifhttp://www.saxperience.com/images/emoticons/wacko.gif

try twisting it left and right full 360 degrees to make sure its going in the correct way.
i had to do this a few days ago so you never no it might be the same :)

im a stupid c**t. i never adjusted the clutch cable thats why

i had a problem with driveshaft not going all the way in. In the end the carrier was catching and wedged againt a bolt on the engine block. Helps or all done?

Forgive me but whats the clutch cable got to do with the driveshaft or for that matter the diff?

take it back out and look at the splines on the end of the shaft mate, i bet there damaged, you really need to look closely as its hard to spot. I had the same problem with my vtr, the shafts would only go in 3/4 of the way. but once I filed the splines down it went the rest of the way. hope this helps mate :y:

no having the clutch cable the way it was, was holding pressure on the clutch and effecting the diff. not sure exactly but once i adjusted the clutch cable so it was normal the shaft slif straight in no bother atall
