for example

my mums car is insured through direct line.
and i have just sold my car but have paid for the whole year insurance through admiral lets say, can i change my insurance to my mums car even if she is covered through anothert company

therefore the car would be insured twice ?

otherwise, if it gets stolen, who pays out?

I see people with 2 policies all the time obviously your not meant to because then insurers argue about who covers the vehicle.

For example its your vehicle insured by direct line

But you have a policy with tradex also as the vehicle is used by more than one peron for work purposes.

Your not suppost to, but some people do

People can insure 2 vehicles, but you cant insure the same car twice.

Why the hell would you want to anyway? pay double premium? :\

Edit...

You cant insure your mum's car full stop because you have no insurable interest in that vehicle anyway. Insurance is there to put the person back in the same position they were in before any incident. Seems you have no legal link to that vehicle, you cant insure it.

You can't insure a vehicle twice. Insurance companies wouldn't let it happen.
