A few days ago my clutch felt like it was slipping. Only happens after about 20mins of driving i.e when its all warmed up, it doesnt happen when its cold for some strange reason. Do i need a new clutch or is it just a clutch cable adjustment?

Also, the clutch cable snapped a year ago which has now been repaired, could this of contributed to the problem?

i had a very similar problem in a rover coupe and it was due to oil leaking from gearbox onto the clutch making it slip and easiest fix at the time was to replace clutch as the job would involve taking it all apart anyway. hope that helps you :)

In what way? shouldnt a worn clutch always slip regardless of temperature?

One sure way of finding out if the clutch is 'cattled'-pull handbrake full on stick it in 5th rev the nuts out of it, then let the clutch up, if it don't stall straight away, it's 'cattle trucked' simples!

I'll try that method. I just hope my clutch is ok though...wouldnt want to splash out £140 :wall:

£140?! thats an absolute steal i paid £230 for mine.

Mine did the same. Turns out when the car had a gearbox changed, they pick and mixed the clutch as date stamps on parts didn't tie up. For some reason the actual clutch bit was new but the plate the clutch bites into was reconditioned :wall: meaning it was always more worn than the rest of it.

If the revs rise and road speed doesn't (especially uphill) then needs new clutch, a worn clutch will often slip once warm and £140 fitted is a really good price.

I wouldnt really advice on a second hand clutch. its better to just get a oem quality clutch.
