Vibrating engine and melted sensor - linked ?

I am currently rallying a saxo VTS twin cam and on the last stages the engine was (understandibly! lol) was getting quite hot, and the whole car started to vibrate even stationary. after a quick shifty under the bonnet I noticed a sensor leading to the top of the oil filter to sump area had melted like black wax. Is this linked to the vibration - fuel or settings?

I'd welcome any clues on this one !!!! :-(

I don't know about the melted sensor, but the engine vibration may be down to the engine mounts being worn.
