refunding policy after claim?

i currently have a claim going through my car insurance, and may need to cancel my policy after it clears, will i get the remainder of my policy refunded?
also, if i carry on with my policy, am i still covered for the rest of my policy year?

these things vary between company,

you are unlikely to get a refund on cancellation, some policies do cancel if the car is declared a right off, some are not cancelled

you will need to check your policy documentation or be lazy and call them

I very much doubt that if you cancel your insurance you will get any refund at all.

If your car is a right off, you normally get around 14-30 days to purchase a new vehicle and get it on cover on the current policy, otherwise it will be cancelled.

Best to check your policy wording or phone them as said above.
