not a saxo but help please!

right a mate on here has a golf (gt tdi) and he has had it a couple of days while driving he has noticed the car never heats up. when stood still running it gets to a quater but when set off again its drops back down. and his heaters never get really warm

i was thinking this could be because of the thermostat being broken? stuck open etc?

Not like these cars not to run at a nice temp, normally sit at 90 all day long. Does sound like a thermostat stuck open, better running cold than hot tho. Id put a thermostat in the car first and see how that does

how easy are they to change?

On a golf im not sure, normally the housing just bolts off and if you get a second hand it will just be a case of bolting it off, renew gasket or sealer and refit. A mechanic will be able to do it in 30mins at the most.
