What's the cheapest way of collecting a car that has no MOT or tax from Kent and bringing it back to Southampton?
It's roughly 120 odd miles and I don't know anyone with a recovery truck to ask them.
I've seen these tow trolley things you can get, are they any good?
What about just paying a recovery company to do it?

i dunno but its costing us £200 to get a car from wolverhampton to nottingham, so expensive,
but it only cost me £120 to get it from mk then to northampton then to notts with my local people, grr
think if your insured on the car and have a certain cover u can get RAC/AA etc to move the car

Just had a thought, if I went to Kent and bought the car, rang up insurance and got covered with breakdown cover, then rung up the breakdown company and said im broke down in Kent and need to get to Southampton.
Would that work?

dont know if this is the same, but alex was insured on my vtr and it broke down in kent 5 mins after i bought it and the RAC recovered the car back to mk :) that was on alexs insurance though.
i think it just depends on what type of cover you have :)

I might look into that then. The fact that the car has no MOT or tax might be an issue though.

i use a towing dolly and either a pajero or berlingo van for some jobs, otherwise i have to get batteries out for the lorry. some trailer hire places will rent dollies out i believe

Nice one mate that's probably the cheapest option. It's not too far from me, about 30 miles.
